Costs of preimplantation genetic screening

My husband and I are considering whether to have our last blastocyst tested for chromosomal abnormalities prior to implantation. Our current clinic doesn't offer this and so can't advise on costs for transferring our blastocyst to another clinic that does offer the screening, nor the cost of doing the screening. Does anyone have any experience of this and any idea of what the costs involved are?

Hi,
If transport procedure is similar as with frozen sperm transfer then you can do it your self. There are some admin fees about £150 in each hospital so £300 all together. But like I said this is price for sperm transport.
I don't know about testing as I'm only just starting my ivf.

If your blast is already frozen, it would have to be thawed and the re-frozen Which radically reduces viability.

How old are you?

I was told that the process would be that the blast would be transported frozen and kept that way until transfer day. It is then thawed and tested and kept at the right temperature on transfer day. The test results come back after a few hours and you then choose whether to go ahead with the transfer.

Everyone I've heard who had Pgs had to have a fet because the results can take awhile.... and the case studies I've found suggested it too. Apologies.

@physicskate You may well be completely right, and I'm sorry if my response sounded dismissive, I didn't mean it that way. I really don't know anything about it which is why I asked. I definitely don't want to risk thawing and refreezing - this will be our last ever round of IVF so last ever chance for my daughter to have a sibling. We won't be taking any unnecessary risks.

I need to speak to one of the clinics that offer the screening but won't be able to until I'm off work on Friday. Feeling a bit impatient for information sooner than that if I'm honest, which is why I posted.
