Have bought this book following recommendations on here, only part way through but I’m thinking I need to replace all my kitchen utensils! Did anyone follow it to the letter? I did want to replace our saucepans, can anyone recommend a new set? Not sure what to buy now Confused

Did anyone have good results following the book?

Essexgirlupnorth · 25/08/2018 13:58

Just op means this itstartswiththeegg.com

Given you are born with all the eggs you will ever have I am sceptical about this

optimusprimesmother · 25/08/2018 14:01

But the saucepans and utensils Grin?

optimusprimesmother · 25/08/2018 14:02

Essex I am too! At one fertility clinic I got told I had basically nothing. Was heartbroken . Went to another one and they retrieved during treatment 13 grade A eggs.

Lol it’s an interesting read so far, I just wanted to find out what supplements are good for IVF/fertility which is later in the book. The books focuses on improving the egg quality and its worth reading.

First part is about chemicals and plastics, and there a recommendation to use cast iron or stainless steel saucepans instead of non stick. Lots of references to research and the writer has gone through IVf herself. I want to give myself the best chance at ivf without stressing over everything, so don’t think I’ll be parting with my perfumes or head & shoulders

I've been reading it, I'm up to the supplements bit. I have replaced my plastic storage boxes (I batch cook alot) with glass ones. And I've bought CoQu10 which is pretty expensive. God knows what else I'll end up buying, maybe I should stop reading it 😂. I'm looking start IVF in a few months so just trying to give it the best chance possible.

When choosing a CoQ10, it is better absorbed in a supplement form that is water and fat-soluble. It's a good option for supporting fertility for men and women. Of course, review all your supplements with your doctor if you are thinking about starting a new regimen.
For the kitchen utensils, if you have any that are plastic, you can look to see if you find a recycling number on them. This number can guide you to find out more info on what type of plastic it is and if you feel comfortable keeping it or replacing it.

I'm 32 and he 3 failed rounds of ivf and was told me eggs were crap. I read the book and did the following: changed out Tupperware to glass, started taking ubiquinol, changed out all personal body products to phthalate free (shampoo, body wash, face wash, moisturiser, make up, NO frangrances). I also changed to phthalate free laundry soap.

In addition to this I found out I had a slightly high thyroid TSH and was put on medication.

After 6 month it starts with the egg changes and 3 months of thyroxin I fell pregnant naturally for the first time in 3.5 years. Not sure what made the difference but it can't hurt to try.

Best phthalate free body products I found included the Simple brand and some Dr Palmers products. For laundry soap I ordered Faith in Nature brand on Amazon.

I bought the book a couple of weeks ago and started to make a few changes. I've stopped using perfume and nail polish (as that's easy!), reduced the amount of plastic kitchenware I use (but kept the pans), started using natural skincare (Pure from M&S and Faith in Nature) and cut down on carbs and sugar. I'm taking the 200mg of Q10 from Holland and Barrett.
Obviously you've had a good result @bluebird3 (congratulations!) and a few others have posted about positive results so I figure it's worth a shot.
I have spent a bit of money but I justify it by thinking if it works it is a lot less expensive than a round of IVF!

Dear all,
I recommend to read the book "It starts with egg".
Before I started my IVF I was using the following supplements according to the book:

  1. Ubiquenol - Remark here it raises your E2 hormone level and can lead to overstimulation or super high quantities of eggs like 30. But it also depends on your situation if you are poor responder or not. I was hyperresponder to medication
  2. NAC - helps you to clean the body from toxins, which appear during IVF medication. As a result you will feel better in general. Stops infections. 3)Alpha-lipoic keeps insulin level good, which is needed during stressful procedure and protects liver from toxins
  3. if in your therapy present orgalutran, it keeps LH level low to prevent ovulation in antagonist protocol. Be aware that this medicament negatively affects your endometrium receptivity therefore to support endometrium drink vitamine E
  4. I have Antiphospholipid syndrome, which 5% of women have and those 5% loose their babies in 70% after 2 months. This require preparation upfront to make blood more liquid (NAC and camamile make blood liquid too). Why this is important? If you have trombose and hormones grow in the blood during pregnancy, baby doesn't get enough oxygen and get infarct or stroke as a result there is a miscarriage. Therefore important to use Omega 3 supplements, asperine 70-80 mg. Asperine till positive test results and then stop continue from week 13th of pregnancy.

This book helped me to get very good quality of eggs and doctors were surprised by results

I changed all my Tupperware to BPA free. Got a couple of frying pans from TK Maxx that didn't have nasties in the coating. Can't remember the brand name now. And I bought a stainless steel set of saucepans that were pretty cheap. I just tried to change one thing each month when I got paid so it wasn't too overwhelming. Now I use 100% natural cleaning products, washing powder etc and beauty products. Changed my scent diffusers to organic, eat organic, don't have artificial sweetness the whole lot ... it seems like a lot but I just made the changes gradually and once I read about it in It Starts With I went and did more research and just decided I wanted to avoid all that stuff from now on anyway, for my health as well as fertility. It might make zero difference but I feel liken doing something good for me and that helps me feel more positive.
