Lack of ov on Clomid

This is my first month taking Clomid 50mg cds2-6. My gynaecologist has given it to me for four months and said come back in January and that's it.

However I usually ovulate like clockwork with a positive opk on cd12 and the usual ovulation signs like cm, bbt etc. This month however I am on cd16 and nothing. My opks started getting darker (testing every 4hrs) but now are back to blank negatives. Plus I have no cm and my bbt hasn't shot up or dipped. All I have is an incredible amount of pain and a headache that caused me to go to bed this afternoon for an hour (still hasn't gone but I have resorted to paracetamol to take the edge off).

Can Clomid stop ovulation? It seems strange that I've never not ovulated before and yet here I am on Clomid and nothing. Would I be really annoying to call my consultants office tomorrow and ask to speak to someone? Don't know if I want to do the rest of the four month plan if it's stopping ovulation.

Can anyone advise?

Hi

Clomid is an ovulation drug. Did you not query why you were given this? Did you not get any scans?

Call the doctor that prescribed it as they are the only ones that can give you more information.

I conceived on clomid but that is because I was not ovulating regularly or at all.

@Rkay2 no I didn't really have time to question it. The appt was literally a couple of minutes long and it was a case of here's a prescription and I'll see you in January. I guess he was just trying to give us more chance of conception as we have low morphology.

I'll call his office tomorrow and see what's what. This pain is awful though so it seems cruel that it hurts so much and yet I haven't ovulated.

Hi

Clomid can cause OHSS - ovarian hyperstimualtion syndrome where the ovaries swell up and can cause abdominal pain, vomiting and shortness of breath and rapid weight gain. Please keep an eye on your symptoms and as you’ve had no scans please speak to the GP or consultant.

Clomid won’t help low morphology so not sure why the consultant thought giving clomid would help.
When I went in for fertility testing it took months and many appointments before I was prescribed clomid. It could be the location you are in.

But I also did can major mood swings and headaches on clomid.

It also took me 4 months to conceive on clomid which spanned 3 cycles.

Please watch your symptoms and call 111 if you’re worried and think you may have OHSS.

I don't have shortness of breath or anything serious. Just feel like I have the worst period ever and it's hard to walk so I'm staying still as much as possible.

I think the theory was that I'll release more eggs and it will give us more chances. I've heard of people who conceive naturally with 4% morphology so think that's what we are doing. Plus it was one SA a year and a half ago and things will have changed by now.

I'm going to ring this morning when his PA comes in and see what the situation is about the fact I have stopped ovulation suddenly.

@Rkay2 I spoke to the hospital this morning and they said that my normal cycle will be disrupted so to just DTD eod till my period starts. They said Clomid has been given so I release multiple eggs and increase the chance of conception. However they gave me the number for the assisted fertility councillor to speak to because I got upset on the phone and she thinks I need someone to talk to about this. She's probably right 🤦🏼‍♀️

Awww. It’s really tough and the hormone disruption doesn’t help. Best of luck x
