Hello ladies, this is my first ever post here so not to sure how to begin ( it may drag on a bit)
Me and my OH have been ttc for 3/4 years now, we have had all the test which have come back that I have PCOS however I am underweight and show no signs of it other then my ovaries, my OH sperm came back normal other then his morphology which is very very low and under 1%.
The doctor have prescribed him tablets and put me on 1000mg of Metformin! My periods are regular (before using, and had been regular for many months) but now they are much longer but lighter then normal. I didn’t know weather this was the normal?
Have anyone of you been in the same situation at all or have any positive story’s on using Metformin for being underweight with PCOS? Or your OH having the same sort of problem? I would love love love to hear your stories, I am getting very upset and believe there is no hope and would just love someone I can talk to about everything as no one knows what we are going through and it is getting very hard.
Thank you for reading my very long message lol ♥️

I'm sorry you are feeling so low, I understand it's hard when people around you don't know what's going on and can't understand. I'm on 2000 metformin because of my
Pcos, and I was over weight, but still in it now after losing 2 stone in 3 months. I'm hoping it's working to help me ovulate as the PCOS is stopping my AF altogether.
We are all here together because we are all looking for a BFP (big fat positive) just don't give up hope :) xx

Hi, I developed pcos after having my second child. Me and my husband decided to try for number 3 and after coming off the pill my periods failed to return after waiting a year. My consultant originally put me on metaformin but I discontinued using it after bad side affects. I started clomid and after 6 cycles I failed to ovulate once. My consultant then stressed I had to take the metaformin as I could no longer continue with the clomid, so I started on the slow release tablets. 8 weeks after taking 2000 daily I fell pregnant which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage but then miraculously I conceived again 4 weeks after. My son is now 2 weeks old. It amazes me after 3 years of trying to conceive and failing to ovulate once I fell pregnant twice in a short space of time thanks to metaformin. I also had ovarian drilling in January 2017 but clomid still failed after this. Please continue with the metaformin. My bmi was at the top end of normal

Hey crazymare, that's a wonderful, I'm so glad you went back on Metformin and I bet you are too! When you was on 2000mg a day was that taking 4 a day as mine are 500mg each and to take 2 a day for now! Also did you carry on taking Metformin whiles pregnant? Xx

@Allusername I've been on metformin for quite some time, at the start all it did was make me feel sick so they slowly increased the dose and I really did learn that you had to have it after breakfast, make sure you take it after you've eaten. I've got two 1000 tablets to take and by gosh they are huge to swallow :/ things we have to do

Allusername · 31/07/2018 07:24

@Snowrose92 Yea I made the mistake of taking without food nd it made me very very ill, where as now I will take half way through each large meal!. However I don't know weather Metformin is for me as I'm underweight so I'm scared to lose more weight as I'm trying so hard to gain weight and my periods have been regular for atleast 6 months then since being on Metformin they have become a lot longer xx

The slow release tablets are a 1000mg each so I took one in a morning and one at night x

crazymare20 · 01/08/2018 22:43

I continued with the metaformin until I was 20 weeks pregnant as I was frightened of another miscarriage x

Allusername · 02/08/2018 09:52

No I didn’t notice any difference once I stopped taking them. I started taking them July 2017 and fell pregnant end of September 2017 which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage but I fell pregnant again end of October and the pregnancy went well.

Allusername · 02/08/2018 20:14

@crazymare20 I am terribly sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how much pain that caused you but it is truly amazing how quickly Metformin work for you!
If you don't mind me asking how to was you trying for before being prescribed it? Xx

I was prescribed 500mg to take 3 times a day by my consultant on my first appointment with him after around a year of trying and after an internal scan and blood test confirmed pcos. However I stopped taking them shortly afterwards as I could not keep any food down as they made me sick. I then changed to the slow release tablets around a year later after 6 failed clomid attempts and ovarian drilling
