Hi ladies just rang to start my last try at the Hewitt fertility centre. they've just told me protocol has changed so I wouldn't have buserilin. just start on proynova on 1st day of period to thicken womb to 7ml. Another thing she mentioned was the scratch. Does anybody else have any experiences and success rates with this? TIA xx

It's an endometrial scratch. I was advised there is evidence it helps with implantation when you've had multiple (3 or more) implantation failures. Some find it quite painful, others not too bad.

Hi @KC3614

Evidence for the scratch is still emerging so isn't robust but small trials look positive.

I didn't have it on my first cycle and on cycle 2 wanted to feel like I'd done everything possible and have no regrets. I'm 8/40 from cycle 2 now bit we changed a lot of other stuff too so I can't say that's what made the difference!

It was fairly uncomfortable at the time but quick - I had really bad cramping afterwards too but I couldn't fine on google that being common! Most people are fine!

Ours cost £150 x

@KC3614 just realised it's entitled embryo scratch! I knew what you meant!

Had an endometrial scratch via the NHS as part of a trial study. It was our first attempt at IVF after 4 years of TTC.

It was quick but I found it very painful. We went on to have an unsuccessful attempt at IVF with ICSI. We wouldn’t consider having another endo scratch.

Maybe it didn’t work for us because we haven’t conceived due to male factor infertility.

Hyacinthbuffett sorry to hear that. Don't give up. My best freind and her partner who had something like 1% chance because of his such low sperm started ivf process and tada she fell pregnant. It only takes that 1. Good luck for future attempts and thabks for your reply. Xx

Hi I had the endometrial scratch. I was advised there is evidence it helps with implantation I had this pre my second IVF I found it painful at the time but had no issues afterwards there is promising literature on it but it didn't work for us.

Cottipus · 22/06/2018 12:49

I had the scratch on my second successful ICSI cycle. First cycle ended in a CP.

However we changed a lot of variables between cycle 1 & 2 so I can’t definitively say whether or not the scratch worked.

That said if I were doing another cycle I would have it again.

@KC3614

Thank you. It’s hard not to lose hope sometimes but success stories like your friend’s do help. Smile

Good luck and hope it all goes well for you!
