sever teratozoospermia

Hi there,

Just after a bit of advise. Me and my partner have been ttc for sometime now. I've had all the tests and have all come back normal for me however my partners sperm analysis has come back saying sever teratozoospermia with asthenozoospermia . Has anyone conceived with there partner having the above. I'm starting to think it's never going to happen for us. My cycles have been really long (46 days) however this month I had a 36 day cycle so I was 10 days early which is always a good sign that my cycles are returning back to normal.

Please can someone advise if it is likely to happen without interventions etc.

Thankyou in advanced.

Xx

Hi mummylaura

My friend had severe OATS, they were referred to fertility and one month before they were due to start, his Mrs fell pregnant and they now have a healthy 1 year old. He went on a complete detox diet, started wilderness running and detox smoothies daily.

Brilliant thankyou for your reply. My partner has currently started a diet and has started taking the wellman vitamins aswell so hopefully this helps. There sounds like there could be hope for us moving forward x

My partner had this. Sperm is such a tricky one - vitamins and lifestyle changes seem to work for a lot of people but did nothing for us unfortunately. What did eventually help was when we both went on a 3-month course of antibiotics, prescribed by the Serum fertility clinic in Athens. His sperm count doubled by the end of that, and his morphology was into the normal range. We did manage to conceive a healthy child without IVF (having had failed ICSI previously). No idea whether it was the antibiotics themselves that worked, or just random chance, but I can't help but feel they made some difference. Good luck to you. Infertility is just soul-sapping.

Serum prescribe a 3 month course of antibiotics that our NHS will prescribe for no more than 10 days. Clinical trials have shown there to be no difference in effectiveness from 10 days or 3 months. Obviously there is an increase risk of things that go wrong on a long term antibiotic regime.

Have you both been tested for STI's? They seriously impact fertility.

Remember that the sperm life cycle is 70 days so a lot can chanhe in ghe sample during this time. My friend basically stopped putting any toxins in his body, this ranged from the water he drank to the shampoo and body washes he used.

Good luck to you both
