Good evening Smile

I have spent the last hour reading through old threads as well as looking at the Fertility Friends forum but I hope it's ok to start this thread too?

After 3 failed UK treatments we would like to have our next treatment abroad. I'm completely overwhelmed by the options and also keen to get some relatively recent experiences. I also feel safe on mumsnet as fertility friends is not that familiar to me yet.

Cost is a big factor and if it makes a difference we'd ideally fly from Manchester. I really am open to all locations if practical and relatively inexpensive for flights. We will probably be going in the school holidays for added irony. Hmm

I've narrowed it down to the 3 in the title as well as possibly Polish clinics. Reprofit have been my favourites after speaking to them in the phone but I'm concerned that they're not in Prague itself (and Manchester to Brno flights don't exist).

I'm also wondering how people went about getting up to date hormone tests. My NHS doctor won't do them and private clinics cost a lot. Would they accept an online service such as Medichecks do you know?

I have emailed each clinic as well, i think I've just had a wave of feeling proactive (rather than usual head in sand) and needing to talk to people that 'get it'.

Thank you Smile

Hi I’ve been to reprofit in Brno twice. We had one failed attempt with an egg donor but managed to freeze 2 and we went back and had those two put in and I am now 6 weeks pregnant and waiting for my first scan next week. We had also had failed attempts in the uk. I can’t fault reprofit at all. We flew from Stansted to Brno and had to drive 4 hours to get to Stansted. We went through your ivf journey just to ease any stress on me. I contacted my local ivf clinic at the hospital and paid them a one off fee of £450 and that covered any injections I needed to have, blood tests etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask x

Thank you so much for your reply and congratulations - fingers crossed for you.

Yes I do have some questions and I'm sure will have many more!

I did look at your ivf journey, how much did they charge again? What do they do that helps ease the stress?
What made you choose this clinic over others (in UK and Europe)?
How much were your prescriptions and how straightforward was getting them?
What was the most stressful part of cycling abroad?

Thank you so much - my brain really not working at the moment and feeling very overwhelmed by choice.

Thanks you Blondes and congratulations to you also Smile

What made you choose that particular clinic and what drugs were you given compared to previous cycles?

Thank you

Our reprofit baby is 1 week old today, couldn't recommend them enough. From my research they were the best success rates with the lowest cost across all the top European clinics. Brno is a beautiful city that we loved exploring during the down time. Incredibly cheap for meals out etc. On one of the legs we had to fly to Prague as the Brno flights were fully booked. We then got the train to Brno, was a few hours journey but incredibly cheap, very straight forward.

For the tests that they need, I managed to get my gp to do them even though we already had a toddler. Why won't your gp do them? Don't say it's for private ivf, they should do investigations for you. Otherwise ultrasound direct can do all the tests and are quite reasonably priced.

Wishing you all the best of luck xx

We chose reprofit due to the success rates that people we knew had had there. My ivf journey sorted anything out we wanted really. They recommend transport, hotels, liaise with the clinic directly etc. You could easily do it alone but I felt like they were worth the money as they sorted prescriptions out and suggest where you can get the medication etc from. They also set out the treatment programme in a manner you understand more than the reprofit one. I can’t remember how much we paid but we used them on both occasions and it’s cheaper the second time around. I just felt they were there and they answered any questions I had or dealt with issues straight away. Brno is lovely too. We stayed at the Barcelo palace both times and it was a lovely hotel x

I did ED ivf at New Life in Thessaloniki. I'm now 17 weeks with twins on first attempt with four blasts still in freezer.

They were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/05/2018 17:37

I chose them as two people I worked for (I’m a maternity nurse) went there and tbh they both had money (had to , to afford me lol) and df and I thought of good enough for them then good enough for us

It wasn’t the cheapest compared to say Athens or Prague but worked

I’m away at the moment so can’t chcek my notes / but they basically gave me a highest dose for my age 42

Plus they dilated my cervix as did a mock cycle /test and couldn’t insert the catheata

Yorkshirelass27 · 02/05/2018 18:56

Hi ladies hope you don't mind me joining in this thread.
Probably a daft question, but how do you plan when to have your cycle abroad with AF/planning flights etc? I work in education and so am restricted to school holidays.
Thanks

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/05/2018 07:14

They will put you on the pill or give you a drug to delay period like for a wedding etc the. Tell you when to stop and af will start 3/5 days later

Yes abroad is slightly harder due to flights unless you go there for a holiday so will be scanned at home and results sent to clinic and they will say book a flight 3 days later for ec th following day the. Stay there 5 days till et then fly home

Or

You fly in day before for ec and book flight 5 days later for et

We seriously considered Reprofit as they were amazing but so we're Newlife in Greece. Reprofit was cheaper than Newlife but we opted for Newlife in the end because of our free unlimited Skype consultations which we definitely needed. We have done the tests here on NHS, scans privately at a local scan clinic, the results emailed to the clinic. We have been asked to be in Greece for final scan and trigger shot, then EC and 5 day blasts transfer. Total days needed out there consecutively 8 days, we are staying 12 days so get a much deserved break.

TrinaN · 04/05/2018 09:06

Hi.

I haven't used any so far, but I am in the pre-IVF stage with Reprofit. They have been really great so far and hopefully will be cycling there around July.

As far as the tests go, I am in Cornwall so not only can I not get them on the IVF, there are no private clinics to get the tests done.

I used Ultrasound Direct for the internal scan (it is the one they call fertility scan) and they were really good. They emailed the results to me within an hour of the scan and even gave me a hard copy of the report whilst I waited, so would be ideal when you come to the monitoring scans.

For my new day 3 bloods I used medichecks (Ultrasound Direct do offer the scan plus bloods, but medichecks was cheaper). Reprofit accepted the results with no problem so you are fine to use medichecks and they were really easy to use. The only thing I will say is that if you know someone who is a nurse and can draw the blood for you to send off do that rather than the fingerprick test - I took three fingers and stabbing myself in the fingers really hurt! x

ivftourist · 18/05/2018 18:02

So happy to see this thread.

I'm in touch with reprofit after finding out that there would be a year to wait on NHS even after already waiting six months whilst testing bloods etc.

I've just had a prescription sent and contacted some pharmacies for prices. I've found Fertility2U to be the cheapest for what I need. About £800 cheaper actually!

The next step is to wait for my period. The day after it starts, I take injections for six days and then have a scan. At that point, Reprofit will advise how much to continue to take and then have another scan.

Like others, I'm a bit unsure how the getting there and accommodation will be booked but I guess it's a bit of a case of last minute booking - even if it is a bit more expensive. I looked at car hire and airbnb for accommodation and looks really reasonable and not too long a drive.

This is our first try.

A family friend had successful IVF in Prague at 40 after trying for 10 years, unfortunately I don't know the name of the clinic but could probably find out if you wanted.

Good luck op Thanks

Si1ver · 18/05/2018 18:39

I've just had a cycle at Reprofit, I'm in my tww at the moment with two blasts in the freezer.

Reprofit were fab. They did ICSI as part of our treatment. The clinic was professional and friendly and clean. The doctors were great, the nurses were kind. Everything was straightforward and I didn't use a clinic here as a go between I just emailed the coordinator directly.

Fertility2u do the cheapest online drugs and they also do online blood tests for anyone struggling with those. The NHS wouldn't test my AMH levels for example.

You can only fly from Stansted which is a pain in the arse, but Brno is fab. It's a gorgeous city, cheap and friendly. It's not been hit by stag/hen does the way Prague has and I absolutely loved it there. Although I kind of hope I don't need to go back too soon.

@PeteNE - can you provide more information about this. Who's running the study? Any more specifics on what the data will be used for?
