Struggle conceiving

So me and my partner have been TTC for 3 years. We finally got referred to a fertility clinic last September, and got our first appointment in March this year. Once there they straight offered us IVF which I was so happy about and also said I would need a HSG test (blue dye test). I had this done this week and got the worst news, I only have one working tube and I have a lot of scarring on my uterus. This was a massive blow to us and very upsetting. I’m really worried now that I can’t have a child and they won’t offer us IVF anymore. I have my next meeting in 2 weeks time for a further consultation. I’m so worried. Can anyone shed some light for me? Has anyone been in the same position as me?
Thank you in advance x

Sorry to hear that you have had such news.
I'm not sure about scarring to be honest but wouldn't think the tubes would be a problem as IVF by-passes the tubes and the embryo is transferred straight into the uterus.
I hope someone else will come along to re assure you.

I don't have any knowledge on this subject but bumping as someone who knows more will be along soon to advise. I'm really sorry you're having to deal with such horrible news- don't lose all hope though, it's incredible what things can be done to assist fertility these days and I'm under the impression that having one tube not working is quite a common condition. If both of your ovaries are working and you are ovulating then there's always something they can try

Thank you very much! Just desperate to find someone who is in the same boat or knows more info! We get married in August too so hoping to get some positive news to reduce stress levels :(

A scarred tube won’t affect IVF. Scarring in your uterus can affect it as it can interfere with implantation. Ask if they can do a hysteroscopy. They can attempt to remove the scarring for you to give you a better chance at conceiving. It’s most likely the reason you haven’t been able to conceive naturally, if they can remove the scarring, it’s possible you could still conceive naturally. Plenty of people do this with just one tube. But yes, IVF will be affected by uterine adhesions but they can be treated for the most part and once they are, IVF should be a more than viable option
