Hello! Only trying 10 cycles but mine are 35 days plus long so coming up for a year! Am 36 and do 2.5... wondering what support if any the nhs might offer at this stage or if we are wasting their time to ask about this? One concern is I know that some cycles I’ve not ovulated because I’ve been doing those opk tests.... is clomid something that helps with this? Sorry, new to all this and pretty clueless! Thanks for support.

Speak to your GP. Some areas GP will give Clomid others insist it goes through infertility clinic.

You can google your local CCG guidelines too. In my area you have to have been trying to conceive for over two years before they will refer to fertility clinics.

That’s really helpful thank you!

If you’re TTC a 2nd child (as your title suggests), you may not be eligible for anything on the NHS apart from basic investigations.

They would do basic tests I think but then any treatment would be self funded. Good luck

Actually it depends on your area.

Some GP's will prescribe Clomid, which is actually quite cheap even if you need to pay for private prescription around £35 per cycle.
Others will refer to clinic, where I am they will take you as far as IUI for second child.

It also depends on your age and weight what they will do for you.
So I'll stick with my initial advice see your GP.

avoidingDM I agree with your advice re seeing GP, I only pointed out that the OP may not be eligible for any NHS investigations (beyond basic blood tests) or treatment because the poster after you has mentioned referral to fertility clinic which the OP may well not be eligible for on the nhs.

All super helpful - really appreciate this, thank you!

Hi I have sub fertility and I needed ivf second time around. I had investigations on the nhs such as bloods to check ovaries and a hcg test to check my tube as I had one removed and the second later on. The ivf treatment i had to pay for ECT but all bloods my gp kindly helped with. I'm sure you'll get bloods done with the gp but will have to pay for treatment such as ivf if needed depending on where you live I think. So definatly worth seeing the gp. Good luck x

Thanks, miracle - that’s helpful to hear x

I'm in a similar situation. GP has given me forms for blood tests (day 1-4 of cycle and day 21) to check hormones levels. A urine sample container (not sure what that is checking for) and semen analysis form for my husband. After these tests will see what next steps are but it sounded like we would be referred on to a fertility clinic.
