Conceive but always miscarry- heartbroken

I’m currently going through what I think is my third miscarriage (never had a successful pregnancy beyond 8 weeks).

Is this a sign of fertility problems/ problems with my womb?

You poor thing, it’s so so devastating. Hugs to you.

The short answer is no, it definitely doesn’t automatically mean there is anything wrong. I had several early miscarriages, then had DC1 with no problems, and went on to have two more healthy DC. Before DC1 it seemed like it would never happen, so do take heart.

How old are you? Early miscarriages do increase with age, but not necessarily a factor. We saw a fertility specialist who after all testing just said we’d had bad luck, and to keep trying, thankfully he turned out to be right.

P.S bleeding in early pregnancy can be normal - have you been to the EPU to be scanned yet?

My closest friend went through this, and it was actually her body rejecting "foreign matter" ie the baby because she had a ridiculously high immune system. This was treatable.

It could be anything, but if you're in the UK, they usually can start investigations after 3 failed pregnancies

I’m so sorry about your loss.

I think 3 mc is usually the point at which you qualify for nhs testing so you may be able to request karyotyping of baby should you wish to do so - I did this. They should offer you blood tests and should check you for things like blood clotting conditions eg factor v Leiden. You should try to get all this included. You can also ask for referral to a specialist recurrent mc clinic where they will know what tests go run - I know queen Mary in London and Coventry have centres.

There is a Mc forum on here under body and soul and usually a recurrent mc thread going about some of the medications that can be used eg progesterone, aspirins and steroids like pred which can reduce mc risk.

I hope this is the kind of info you wanted Flowers

I wanted to say and hope it’s ok to add this that the overwhelming majority of women treated at the recurrent mc clinic at st marys had a healthy baby after treatment Flowers

Very sorry for your losses. Recommend Prof Lesley Regan’s book on miscarriage, and perhaps seeking a referral for tests.

How old are you and your DP? Do you havePCOS?

Thank you for all your kind messages. I’m 21 and supposedly healthy. I’m lucky in many ways because I have a long time to keep trying but I do worry that if I’m having problems at this time in my life then my chances aren’t great.

I had my 6 week scan (internal) and they couldn’t find anything but equally they didn’t bother giving me a blood test to check my hormones to see if I am still pregnant. I feel completely let down. It was in the same room where we found nothing on the screen at 9weeks last time :(

It turned out to be a missed miscarriage so I probably carried to about 8/8.5 weeks
