PCOS Gynaecology Referral

Hi everyone. This is my first thread post in the infertility section, please be gentle. I was officially diagnosed with PCOS recently and my day 21 tests showed that I am not ovulating. My unfortunately fairly clueless GP has referred me through to gynaecology. Now I fit all of the PCOS pointers - overweight (bmi 36ish), man hair on my chest, irregular periods/ovulation etc.

What can I expect from my first appointment? I'm worried that I will show up and they will say "You're too fat, go home" I am trying to lose weight at the minute, slowly as you can appreciate. My DH has poor morphology too so without help we are up the creek without a paddle!

Are they likely to insist that my BMI is below 30 before they offer help?

Thanks x

They me might set a goal of 30. Not sure what the min guideline is for clomid.

Pcos is very carb/ sugar sensitive. So avoiding all carbs and sugar should help you lose a wee bit of weight. So basically, veg and fish or chicken. I've tried the paleo diet...

@physicskate. I've cut out dairy and sugar and about to ditch carbs in the next few days Confused woohoo.

@lookingatthestars I hate to echo what you've already said but PCOS can really be drastically effected by your weight. I had about the same BMI as you do now I believe, lost weight & got into the healthy range & we conceived within months. DD is 9mo tomorrow! Believe me, I know it's not easy. It's really really tough. But really wanting to be a mum spurred me on & honestly it was so worth it. I gained weight during pregnancy/after birth (eating terribly) no periods but assumed that was due to BF, went on a diet again & lost a stone & periods returned even whilst BF still within weeks. I'm not sure if you will receive any help until then unfortunately I think they see being over weight as 'high risk' Sad
