How long does it take to get results of a sperm DNA fragmentation test?

Just that really. DH is giving a sample this morning and I have a follow up appointment on Wednesday regarding my results but just wondering if we will have his results back by then?

We were told it take 3-4 weeks and sperm had to be sent to Denmark. Follow up 3.5 weeks after it was done and we've been asked to call and check it's back before we go to appointment

Husband was told 10 days by hospital. Called doctors today to be told results are ready but havent been sent to doctor to look over so it wont be until tomorrow evening.
Do they not know how important results like this are to people!!!!

Thank you. At the CRGH they told me 24 hours but I think they were at cross purposes and thought I was asking about general sperm count as 24 hours just doesn't seem possible for DNA fragmentation does it?

Wow! Yours are all a lot quicker than ours! Maybe depends what company they use?

hoping2018 · 12/03/2018 13:57

24 hours seems a bit too quick I agree....

So having been told it might not be back by our follow up a month lat r the results arrived in the post yesterday - so actually took 2 weeks.

Thanks hoping hope your results were good.

20% which has come back as moderately high. We were told if high they would do surgical sperm retrieval next time - hoping that's high enough otherwise our chances are pretty low per cycle.

Have they given you any treatment options? I've just seen the consultant who suspects DH may have elevated DNA fragmentation and says all she recommends is selenium and zinc supplements.

We were just told they would surgically remove sperm in next cycle as most fragmentation happens in the epididymis. There is some evidence ICSI with testicular sperm is more like to produce a live birth than ICSI with ejaculated sperm.

We've had one cycle but got 14 fertilised embryos but then only 2 poor quality blasts at the end. If it's not dna fragmentation then there is a quality problem with either the sperm or egg but they can't test for this. So we're really hoping surgical retrieval is an option and it helps!!

Otherwise we were just told healthy lifestyle advice - which is already being done. I don't think selenium is in his supplements though so might be worth us getting some of that?

Fingers crossed for you. My consultant at the CRGH seemed to think selenium was very important but it is in the Wellman Conception vitamins so if your partner is taking that he will already have it- we were told my DH should take more on top of that and it was all related to DNA fragmentation.

He does take the Wellman a! I'll check when I get home. Thanks x
