Blocked tube - what's next?

Hi all, my recent HSG revealed a blocked tube and I'm now waiting to hear from F.C. for further steps. Was just wondering what others experiences were - I'm 27, been ttc #1 for a bit over a year. Any insight on what might come next would be helpful!

Hiya expatknitter,

That’s what happened to me. HSG showed one tube completely blocked and the other was letting a small trickle through.

The next appointment I had with the FC we discussed having a lap & dye done so that they can actually see what’s causing the block and if they can salvage it. It was done under general anaesthetic and you can go home afterwards (I didn’t have it done until late so I stayed overnight).

In the end, the completely blocked tube had to be removed (salpingectomy) and the other was salvaged by creating a new opening in the tube (salpingostomy). It looked like I had an infection a long, long time ago and it made tubes and ovaries stick together a bit, so lots of adhesions. I was treated for PID and given antibiotics.

The next review appointment after that was going over the above and then agreed to do IVF via NHS. The consultant also said that there is still a chance for me to conceive naturally as I still have one working tube. We tried naturally for another year and unfortunately didn’t work out for us, which is why we did a private IVF.

I hope this helps Smile

@Antonia79 thank you so much! This is roughly what I expected but it's nice to hear someone else's experience. I swear this wait to hear from F.C. is worse than any 2ww ever 😂🙈
