Sperm count of 6.5 million

My husbands sperm count has just come back as 6.5 million per ml. He has motility of 50%. Has anyone ever conceived based on a count this low?

Thanks

It can happen but it’s highly unlikely and should be reasonably expected even you carry on trying for another 3 years.

It’s quite possible, DH’s varied between 0 and 8 million per ml following vasectomy reversal and we had 2 DCs after. We were told that it’s often lots of small factors on both sides that contribute to infertility, eg a low sperm count plus PCOS or another female issue.
In fact our second was a big surprise as we just thought we’d got lucky with DC1 and didn’t assume we’d manage another (and we’d only dtd about twice in a few months as dc1 wasn’t sleeping well at that point Blush). If your own fertility is good then you have a better chance. Was the morphology normal too?

Your chances are markedly reduced but it's definitely possible. It depends how much longer you're willing to try without intervention. For example how old are you? We conceived our dd1 with less than 100,000 sperm count (took 2 years), but admittedly this is very rare. We then tried for two years for no.2 with no luck and went down the ivf route.
There are ways to try to increase sperm count, ie supplements and lifestyle factors. Is your partner having investigations to determine why it is low? A repeat test may also turn out better.
Good luck x

Hello all. Thank you for the replies. My husband had his vasectomy reversed. I'm 31 and have 2 DDs from my first marriage. I'm ovulating every month so fingers crossed. Thank you for the advice. X
