Hi
Sorry don’t know the lingo on here so I’ll try my best the long way.
My husband and I are in our early thirties and have a 5 year old together.
We have been trying for our 2nd child for over 3 years now.
My periods have always been regular, around the same cycle length, and ovulating when I should be. We have sex literally every other day.
I finally seen a consultant in April who advised a laparoscopy. Husband has sperm analysis which was very good.
Had my laparoscopy and dye put through tubes in October. No blockages found, just a few adhesions which were removed.
Had my follow up appointment yesterday to be told I’m Getting discharged as they is nothing more they can do. She said I have lots of eggs, of which are very good. I tick all the boxes, it’s just a matter of time.
The only thing we can do is IUI or IVF privately. I didn’t want to go down this route but not sure what else to do.
I suppose I got my hopes up that I’d get clomid, as my friends have had it and fell straight away. Doctor said it would be of no benefit to me, as I’m ovulating perfectly fine.
I’ve ordered plenty of vitamins, starting to eat a bit healthier and I’m
Also enjoying the gym.

So no problems downstairs, regular periods, ovulating normally, plenty of sex, we dont smoke, only drink alcohol once a month(if that).
SOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!
Any help, advice, herbal remedies or anyone in same boat would be much appreciated :)

I'm in exactly the same position.
Have a four year old, been trying for theee years. I am 34. All tests unexplained, thinking I might have a laparoscopy soon.
I also have had a cycle of ivf which unfortunately failed. Three blasts, 2 negative pregnancy tests and one positive which ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks.
Waiting for a 2nd cycle - the doctor has advised me to take DHEA for three months to improve egg quality before further ivf.
Did you have a section with your 1st?
I have regular periods, not sore, ovulate with OPK sticks and have sex when we are supposed to.
It's so hard - here if you want to chat. X

This is helpful to read. It’s the journey I’m just about to start. Had a miscarriage a year ago and can’t get pregnant again. Had one DC and am 37. Think my fertility has just fallen off a cliff. Didn’t take this long to get preganant with DD and last year was accidental.

I’m booked in with the doctor in two weeks to get things rolling.

Have you had your thyroid checked? I was borderline under active (wouldn't normally treat). Started on medication & conceived within 4 months.

We had a 4 year old & had been trying for about 2 years.

Mammyofonlyone · 17/01/2018 19:15

Sorry, I've nothing to add but I'm in the same boat. Have been trying for four years. I wish I had an answer but just wanted to join the others and empathise with how (a) totally crap and (b) all consuming it is

Hello everyone. Awww it’s so nice to hear people in the same position as ourselves. I know we are so lucky having our little girl but I’d just love a sibling (or two) for her and make our family complete. I’ve never been ‘desperate’ until yesterday. It felt like the end of the road but I know that’s silly of me to think like that. Feel a lot better about it today!
user1500330305 sorry to hear about your miscarriage. No I didn’t have section with first and no trouble conceiving, maybe because we weren’t actively trying. I do sometimes think it’s a lot to do with our brain/mind.
I’ve never thought about the ivf route until today.
NannyOggsKnickers Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Yes it’s best to start the ball rolling, it’s a long process. The waiting for appointments is a nightmare.

dramallamakarma No havnt had thyroid checked. I will look into this. Thank you.

Mammyofonlyone Have you had any tests done yet.

Just got back from gym and Vitamins are getting delivered tomorrow. Yaaaay!!

Yes, I have had tests done. We had our 1st gold with IVF due to unexplained infertility. Went to go for more about 18 months after birth and was told me ovaries are basically dying faster than they should but technically still possible to conceive.
Am incidentally (and depressingly) off to the GP this afternoon to discuss what I fear is early menopause. Joy.

Good luck to everyone

Hi OP. I am currently pregnant and DC1 is already six. We had been trying for years with absolute everything in perfect order and running like clockwork. All tests perfect. Nothing explained. Nothing to be done. We were sad but stoic and accepted either that it wouldn't happen again, or would happen when it was meant to. We gave up two years ago when DD was 4 as I couldn't look at another OPK or face the disappointment of my period. I am relatively, averagely young for a second child.
I want once flamed on here for mentioning stress, but in our case it was really two stressful jobs and a child who needed lots of (and we wanted to give) lots of attention. So a lot of stress and exhaustion with busy lives. I think Nature said "you are too busy and frazzled for a sibling"
Years later, job changes, concentrating on family life and enjoyment and time together, we felt much happier and together, and, a surprise pregnancy.

Dr Sears (Attachment Parenting) also says that ages gaps are often bigger when the last child was what he calls a "High Needs Child" (which has nothing to do with naughtiness or special needs, more with personality).
If waiting and de-stressing are not an option, I also did the following over the past year, possibly cumulatively they also contributed:
To lose weight (didn't lose much but felt fitter) in the last year: Intermittent fasting - for my general health i had an early and tiny dinner and skipped breakfast, meaning I fasted most days for at least 16-18 hours. I felt brilliant and looked fabulous (for me).
To stave off colds last autumn: A high dosage vitamin D course -20,000 units daily for a month and over the counter dose of zinc daily.

I hope something works for you. Good Luck.
For me, of helped me to get through the infertility by believing that the right child would come at the right time, and would be sent. And to enjoy the time in between, enjoy 🍷 and time with DH and pay attention to myself and my happiness. And DD had really enjoyed this time as an only child, she greatly benefited and thrived. Happy to explain more to OP if she asks.

(No funny comments please MN - I am sharing my experience with OP as she requested and it is for her to decide how to read the info)

And I only recently learned that Vitamin D is a hormone! Had no idea.
Also spent the whole summer in the sun but don't know if that helped. Think that the tablets are stronger.

Mammyofonlyone Awww Hun, stay positive. How did GP visit go?

Cherrycokewinning · 18/01/2018 18:36

Hi OP we used zita West. Visited her at her clinic in London but you can buy her book. I’m not saying it works but hey...

Just one thing though why have sex every other day? Maybe save it for your fertile window?

zobo1984 · 18/01/2018 18:43

Harebellmeadow Hi Hun, thanks for letting me in on your journey. That’s encouraging to hear.
We had already decide a couple of weeks ago that we would concentrate on getting ourselves fit and healthy. We are both within a healthy bmi but I’m still wearing my winter layer lol, so looking at losing a good few pounds anyway.
My husband gets stressed about his job, but I love my job. We did have a bit of money worries so I think that will have had a major impact. That’s all sorted now and feel so much better about it all and hubby seems a lot less stressed these past few weeks. So fingers crossed.
I have also booked in for acupuncture tomorrow. Not sure if anyone else has tried this...?

OP posts:
zobo1984 · 18/01/2018 18:47

Cherrycokewinning Oh great I’ll check it out.
Ha ha because we enjoy it lol.
I did ask the consultant if it’s better every few days or as much as possible. She said there’s no evidence to say more sex gives more chance, she said every 2-3 days is perfectly fine

OP posts:
Cherrycokewinning · 18/01/2018 20:04

Yes zita advocates acupuncture and we used it. It helped with hormones I believe (after a time my PMT etc disappeared)

Good for you, we got fed up fairly quickly lol. I just meant if you’re ovulating fairly regularly you won’t

Cherrycokewinning · 18/01/2018 20:04

Woops

Won’t get pregnant most of the month

zobo1984 · 18/01/2018 20:46

Cherrycokewinning ah good! I’ve read and heard some good things about it.
Haha we’ve always been like that even when we weren’t ‘trying’. So it’s just the norm really. Saying that, this is the first month during fertile week where we havnt had it at least 4 times, and that was because hubby had ‘flu’. Still managed twice though. Never know, We might have shocked my body into pregnancy lol...if only!!!

Just had my acupuncture. Very interesting. He said I had a low pulse, not much oomph which would state exhaustion, as though I had just ran a marathon. Therefore there was not much energy reserve in my kidneys, strange. I found a bit of pain in right ovary when he pressed, which he got rid of with some placed needles in leg.
Felt better coming out of there. He did suggest low sugar diet...but the only white refined sugar I have is in small amount of chocolate that I have on an evening with a cuppa. Although I realise there are hidden sugars in a lot of things, including bread etc. Still, I don't think I have more than the daily amount.
Started on our vitamins today :)
