Clinics for low amh and low afc

Hello

I could really do with some help and input from experiences.

I have low amh and low afc for my age (36). I've been told I need to get on with IVF really quickly and even then might not be successful. I really want to go to a clinic that is good for this and personalises protocols. Do you have any recommendations from your experience?

I am ttc #2. My first passed away of cancer at 7 months old last year - so we are pretty fragile and finding all of this tough in the wake of what's happened.

Thank you so much x

I'm not sure as researching clinics myself at the mo, but I'm so so sorry to hear about your loss. SadFlowers

The lister in London is meant to be good for low amh. No personal experience however.

Are you sure you can’t conceive naturally? Low amh on its own doesn’t make natural conception impossible.

I’m so so sorry about your story, how absolutely tragic. Flowers

So sorry for your loss. What an awful time you have had. x

I'm at the lister. I've got low afc and amh and mfi so we are a bit of shit storm.

We are private as my levels are below the nhs threshold for using my own eggs.

Good luck xxx

Thanks so much everyone. And thank you for your kind words for our brave DS. It is the Lister that keeps coming up for low amh, so it's reassuring to see this reflected here - I think I'll book a consultation. We are seeing Guys but I'm just not sure low amh is their speciality. We're going private too.

cannonball8726 good luck with your search - would be good to hear where you decide to go.

chattycat78 - I think you're right but the doctor said if we wait for that to happen it might be too late...

planegazer - masses of luck at the Lister to you... fingers crossed

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss. I was told I needed to get on with it Pronto as I had an amh of 3.4 at 28.

We rushed into ivf, it was so traumatic and expensive and it didn't work.

What the doctors downplayed massively at the fertility clinics is that I could fall pregnant naturally. We stopped trying and after a a few months I was pregnant. As long as you have eggs it can happen - one woman fell pregnant with an amh of 0.57! Google low amh rates being shown not to affect conception rates - it's true. It does mean you have less time but you still have time as long as you are ovulating. Give yourself a chance to try naturally before rushing into anything would be the advice I wish I'd followed xx

I'd also say be kind to yourself xxx

I had secondary infertility and was diagnosed with low amh and high fsh at exactly your age. We went to the Lister- our first round of IVF was successful and she is now 5 years old.

tosleepallday · 11/01/2018 22:44

Hi
I also had low amh and low AFC aged 36
I had IVF at UCLH and was successful first round with twins. I had an antagonist cycle.
UCLH is NHS but all the procedures are done at CRGH which is private
I can also recommend the Lister as I know people that work there
Good luck
And I agree with the above pp saying that it is definitely possible to conceive naturally with low amh - I suppose it depends on how long you've been trying which will have an impact on how ready you are to proceed with ivf
Big hugs
And message me if you want any more details

I'm so sorry for the loss of your DS

I don't know if this is an option at all but I went to Reprofit in Czech Republic. I didn't know I had low amh at the time but I do and only produced 3 eggs. The clinic said if we weren't successful (amazingly we were as we also had male factor) that they could adapt the protocol for the next one.

They also do ICSI as standard which increases the chance of fertilisation on the assumption you won't have many eggs to be playing around with

Very best wishes to you Thanks

I am so sorry for your loss Flowers

I have low AMH and Oxford fertility were fab.. they put me on higher doses of gonal f

Chattycat78 · 18/01/2018 21:33

Smiler- your story is really interesting.

I was told a similar thing at 34 with an amh of 2.8. I was definitely told it was “unlikely” we would get pregnant on our own. I got pregnant straight after this naturally but sadly it didn’t work out. I then did ivf was we were told it was necessary. It worked.

9 months after the ivf baby was born as soon as my period came back, we started trying again. I had very low expectations but thought it was “worth a try” just in case. I got a bfp 2 weeks later and now have 1 kids with 16.5 months between them.

So yes! Couldn’t agree more with smiler.

I really hope it works out for you OP. You’ve been through a lot. Flowers

Chattycat78 · 18/01/2018 21:34

That should say...2 kids....!

Smiler88 · 21/01/2018 18:52

chattycat78 do you mind if ask if you did anything to postpone your periods coming back? I would love a second child before my eggs run out (my amh was 3.4 before i fell pregnant) but know my partner isn't ready for one right off the bat afterwards. So i'm very keen to do all I can to postpone my periods returning and my cycle resuming for as long as I can after the birth to buy me some time! Any advice gratefully received. It seemed to happen quite quickly for us once we started naturally x

Smiler88 · 21/01/2018 18:54

(I'm currently 35 weeks preggo) x

Chattycat78 · 21/01/2018 20:14

Smiler- not sure what you mean. My period didn’t come back for 9 months because I was breastfeeding. That usually puts off your period retuning.

I hate to say it though, but I’m pretty sure that putting off your period returning won’t buy you any time- you still lose eggs even when you’re not ovulating or having periods sadly (I looked into this).
TBH my advice to you would be to physically try asap - that’s what we did. I really wouldn’t delay if you know your amh is low. Sorry.
