I don't know If I'm in the right group here, so sorry if I'm not Ladies.

I want to know if any of you have taken the mini pill to regulate your period? I suffer with PCOS and don't have a period often. I Just wondered if any of you have tried it and if it worked, how long was you taking them to bring you on? Confused
TIA ladies xx

If you're looking to regulate your cycle rather than having a long term contraceptive, you could speak to your doctor about norethisterone. This isn't a contraceptive, but can be used to delay a period, subsequently, when stopping taking it after a short course it usually brings on a period but not sure if it would be successful with pcos. If you're looking for contraceptive advice I'd try the family planning section on the health board, as this is the infertility board you may not get many answers re contraception.

Hiya, yeah I've been prescribed them by a gynea but don't know if I can get them again by going to my doctors? I will ask when I go. I know, I didn't know where that threat was. Thanks anyway

Thanks KattyH,

I have been trying for a baby but no luck, so I've decided to stop for a while and concentrate on regulating my periods and hopefully the mini pill will help xx

The mini pill won’t regulate your periods. If anything it’ll either stop them or make them irregular. One of the ways it works to prevent a pregnancy is by preventing the womb lining thickening so that if an egg is fertilised, it can’t implant in the womb. It does also sometimes inhibit ovulation so its not going to regulate this either.

The norethisterone mentioned above has a similar hormone in it, but all that does is induce a withdrawal bleed when you stop taking it.
