I have my first appointment with a fertility nurse specialist
What happens?
What can I expect?
What do I ask?
This is obviously completely new territory for me, just want to be prepared
Thanks :)

Its usually a chat about your menstrual history, medical history and lifestyles.

Both of you should attend this appointment if at all possible as these can cause considerable nerves and it is good to have some moral support. I would also write down any questions that you want to ask beforehand; no question is daft. I would also ensure as far as possible that you understand exactly why the tests given to you both are being performed, I say that because it is not always explained properly.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost and you will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Ok thank you
They've told us they won't go ahead with the appointment if only one of us goes which has been a logistical nightmare but there we go!

Hello.
I think it depends on what's been done or found already. They will ask you about your periods and cycle. If you have not had the basic tests like ultrasound, blood tests, partner's semen analysis etc they will probably book in that for you.
I had my first infertility appointment last month as we had all the basics with my GP (all normal). She prescribed clomid (to see if it would help balance hormones I think) and have also been referred for a hysteroscopy due to unknown abnormal bleeding.

I also recommend you come prepared with questions and if you have any particular concerns tell them.

Good Luck!

Ok thank you I sat and wrote out all my periods including cycle days (eye opener! Shortest was 11 days and longest was 43 and then everything in between)
Have had:
Bloods done three times this year
SA done
I had an ultrasound at the beginning of the year which diagnosed Pcos
I really hope they get things moving ttc for nearly three years now with not even a sniff.

With all the bits and pieces you have done this year they should get the ball rolling especially because of the PCOS. Hope it all goes well for you :)
