Sperm Donor

I am 26 and have just found out that I can not have a child naturally and would need to have IVF and my tubes removed as they are blocked and cause alot of problems for my health. Before they remove them I am looking into having the IVF first but to do this I would eed a sperm donor. Has anyone else done tis before or have any advice?

You can do IVF whether you’ve got your tubes or not. So there’s no rush to do it now. I haven’t used a sperm donor but there are sperm banks and it won’t be a problem for you.

Oh no I could still do it but before I get them taking out I would prefer to know I have a child

But what Jojo is saying is that you can get ivf with or without tubes. Them being blocked and needing removal has absolutely no impact on ivf.

It sounds like you can’t get pregnant without this medical procedure (ivf) and so your tubes will be irrelevant as to whether or not you conceive using your ivf...

Having IVF with donor sperm is perfectly straightforward - basically, exactly the same as having IVF with a partner's sperm, in terms of all the procedures and so forth. The main question you'd need to look into would be whether you'd be entitled to any NHS treatment and if so what it would cover, or if you'd have to fund it privately. If the latter, it's basically about £1k for the sperm, on top of the normal cost of IVF. If this is not something you can afford, you might potentially be eligible to donate some of your eggs and get free or reduced cost treatment for yourself as an egg share donor, but obviously this is a big commitment so something you'd need to think carefully about.

If the issues with your tubes are causing you health problems I would ge that sorted before the ivf if I were you, ivf, pregnancy etc is difficult enough without any additional hurdles.

Also, if you have hydrosalpinx, I believe this can reduce the chances of implantation with ivf, and damage the embryo.
