fallopian tube surgery

Hi everyone,

I know this is a long shot but has anyone had surgery on their fallopian tubes to clear blockages?

I had an infection after the birth of DD which blocked my tubes. We had two rounds of IVF (first chemical pregnancy (one frozen), second embryos did not make it to 5 days). I don't respond well to the IVF meds so thinking about alternatives...

When my DH and I try to conceive I am 4 to 6 days late, my boobs are massive (even, sorry TMI, nipples sort of dropping downwards) and I have other pregnancy symptoms that I only had with my daughter. I am always on time with my periods!

I'm thinking that the egg must be getting part way down the tube, and the sperm must be meeting, but that the embryo can't get through.

I had a hysteroscopy which showed both tubes are blocked by the uterus. I'm hopeful that I may be a candidate for the surgery...

I had a Google and can't really seem to find much on places that perform the surgery in the UK and recommendations/reviews.

Please help if you have any experience!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have no experience as we have mfi, but I'm not sure your theory is viable. If the sperm can travel up to meet the egg then the embryo would be able to get down. Also, you wouldn't have symptoms that early. It sounds like your tubes are causing the fertility problems, but I don't think you're conceiving on the occasions you think you are. Good luck with your treatment!

Hey! So coming from someone who has had PID twice and also two ectopic pregnancies (all separate 4 occasions) if you’re tubes are blocked it is extremely unlikely you are falling pregnant.

Also there is no other way to find out your tubes are knocks except for a HSG test.

Are you sure that your cycle length hasn’t changed? These also sound like PMS symptoms?

I would go to the GP and explain you concerns.

It probably sounds unlikely, but my ivf doc thinks that may also be what's happening (the sperm is smaller, so there may be a gap which is too small for the egg/sperm combo).

I went to start a third cycle of ivf this morning and the doc said that my lining was way too thick for ivf (thicker than normal), and thought that maybe the sperm had met the egg. This time my period was a week late.

Good idea re family doc, I'll see him next week. It may be good to get a second opinion on everything and/or speak to some other specialists. I don't really see much evidence online of successful clearing of tubes.

I also messed up, I didn't have a hysteroscopy I had a hyphosy, dye and ultrasound.

Hi @city8269 this post is very interesting as im experiencing something very similar. After 2.5 years secondary infertility I've discovered I have scar tissue in uterus and tubes appear blocked on hysteroscopy due to infection. I had no idea I had an infection did you have symptoms?

I totally agree with your theory. Sperm are a tiny 50 microns so could fit through a small gap in the fallopian tube whilst the female egg is huge, one of the largest cells in the human body so I think fertilisation can happen but then get stuck in the tube or fail to implant if you have scar tissue like me (which will only show up on a hysteroscopy). Up until recently I thought that you only experience symptoms after implantation but I have been reading about early pregnancy factor which is produced at conception which explains why I have been convinced several times I was pregnant although I never got my bfp.
