Surgery for blocked Fallopian tube

Hi I'm having a laparoscopy to investigate my Fallopian tube, right one. Hsg showed it blocked. Blood test showed no ovulation

I also had a 5cm cyst on left ovary
( now gone )

2 scans I've had shows good follicles
Which this confused me as dr said I don't ovulate.

Could it be because I only have one open tube ? and will unblocking and putting me on clomid increase my chances other than just having 1 tube

I've heard the statistic that having one tube only decreases your chances by about 30% not 50% as one would expect.

I've also heard that they generally don't have a huge success rate with unblocking tubes. It's a separate issue to not ovulating.

Clomid has some really positive success rates. But seems like you won't know until you see how you individually respond.

I also have one of my tubes blocked and was referred for IVF which I am very pleased about. I am 34 so don't have much time,, also unblocking the tube will not necessary improve my chances. I would however give it a go if I was younger.

physics is right re the statistics of one tube. I now only have one and was told my chances were decreased by around a third, not half, as your other tube can 'catch' the egg from either ovary, so it may improve your chances but not as dramatically as you might hope.

I think, though could be wrong, that if your tube is blocked, even after surgery, there is potentially a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy, as that tube may not function properly/scarring is linked to ectopic pregnancy risk.

I hope all goes well for you.
