Should I go for a natural FET or medicated FET?

39 years old
TTC for 2 years
3 chemical miscarriages (natural conception)
1 chemical miscarriage (fresh IVF transfer)

4 embryos in freezer

I have no lining issues, always optimal thickness at different stages of cycle.
Slightly underactive thyroid which I take levothyroxine for
APS raised anticardiolipin antibodies which I take aspirin and heparin for when bfp
30-34 day cycle
Ovulate very month around day 15-18

Guys Hospital said it is up to me if I want to do natural FET or medicated FET

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Should I go for natural FET or medicated FET?

If your cycles are regular than I'd suggest natural FET. No point in pumping your body with hormones if it doesn't need it.

Good luck!

If you've got regular cycles and a gold lining around the time of transfer, I'd personally go for a natural FET

Have they looked into why you're having chemical pregnancies? Have you done any immunes tests or discussed adding prednisolone or similar to your medication?

Hi OP, what did you go for? I am in the same position trying to decide now but I have the added complexity that my clinic isn't open on weekdays and wondering if I should rule out natural on that basis.

Thanks ladies for your advice.

Hi Avocadosmoothie The hospital has advised us that there is no difference in success rates between natural FET and medicated FET.

They said if your usually ovulate every month within a certain number of days then go for natural FET.

They said women choose medicated FET if they have extremely irregular cycles so they need the drugs to down regulate body or stimulate ovulation. Or some women choose medicated FET if they want to plan in advance transfer day. Or because some private clinics don't open at weekend.

We are going for natural FET next month. They will start scanning me after ovulation and then do transfer after about 7 days when lining is right.

The last IVF cycle was quite medicated and the drugs made me unable to sleep and not feel well which may have contribute to the chemical pregnancy?

A modified natural cycle results in higher live birth rate in vitrified-thawed embryo transfer for women with regular menstruation

So if your cycle is fairly regular then go for natural FET.

My cycle is 30-34 days with no lining issues so hospital has recommend the natural FET.

I did natural FET and it was successful, fewer artificial hormones the better as far as I'm concerned

"Modified natural cycle endometrial preparation regimen for vitrified-thawed day three embryo transfer is associated with superior live birth pregnancy outcomes compared to artificial cycles."
