Has anyone used Access Fertility?

Has anyone come across this refund programme from Access Fertility? It was mentioned to me last night and I see they partner with the clinic I'm at, so I'm going to give them a call today to find out more, but I was wondering if anyone had dealt with them? <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.accessfertility.co.uk/programmes/the-access-fertility-ivf-refund-programme/" target="_blank">https://www.accessfertility.co.uk/programmes/the-access-fertility-ivf-refund-programme/

Pyjamas81 We are also trying to conceive and looking at finance options. If Ok, can you share the risk/return analysis you did to decide on the right plan.
You can email it to me at [email protected]

Thank you.

Hi Pyjamas81, just wondering how you got on with this? I’m just waiting to hear back from them on whether we’re accepted for the 70% plan - I’m also 36 and just found out the other day that I have a similar AMH to you so glad to hear you were accepted! Also have you been advised to take anything to help increase egg count e.g. DHEA?

Pingol · 06/01/2018 00:40

@kduddala I’m no accountant but something I found useful was to list out in a spreadsheet all the different plans, the initial outlay and what we’d be left with if all cycles failed. I then looked at the different combinations of a refund package plus the 2 cycle discounted package to see which would offer the most cycles for the least amount of money if we needed to do that. A 3 cycle 70% refund programme followed by the discounted 2 cycle programme came out at around £13,800 from what I recall - This is assuming you end up getting the refund - and would enable a total of 5 fresh cycles. Of course the flip side is you invest the huge initial amount and could end up being successful after one round, but then that’s the gamble! It’s more about what you’re willing to part with and we just decided that would be peace of mind money worth investing. Hoping it works out and we’re accepted. Good luck!

Hi Pingol!

We've only done one cycle so far out of the 3 - have to sort out some issues with husbands sperm dna fragmentation before we can do another round. Nothing can increase egg count as we're born with all the eggs we'll ever have, but for egg quality I'm taking omega 3, DHEA and ubiquinol. I also have the MTHFR mutated gene so am taking folate instead of folic acid as I can't absorb folic acid properly. Hope that helps and best of luck for your round!

Ah, that’s interesting you’re on DHEA as I’m seriously considering it but not sure the clinic will let me based on other advice they’ve given me. Did you speak to your doctor about it? I’ve heard such great things with regards to others’ experiences, not only with regards to quality but also count. I realise there’s nothing you can do to increase the actual numbers but maybe it just works by making all the eggs that are available of a good enough quality to use. Sorry to hear you’re struggling with DNA fragmentation - we’re battling 100% anti-sperm antibodies in my husband’s sperm and there’s literally nothing we can do about that which is why we need IVF. Now we’ve found out I also have a low AMH it’s been a real blow. Hopefully your husband can improve his issue though as I’ve heard there’s things you can do for that. Best of luck for your next round! Xx

Also thinking of this! Has anyone else had any experience?

Cattenberg · 01/02/2018 22:45

Yes, I went for Access's three cycle IVF 70% refundable package. The terms and conditions sounded better than my clinic's three cycle package. The package didn't cover the cost of the drugs or HFEA fees, but when my first cycle was cancelled before egg collection, it wasn't counted as a cycle and I didn't have to pay a cancellation fee either. If I remember correctly, Access also didn't insist that I had to have all three cycles within a year or lose them (unlike my clinic).

My second attempt (first full cycle) was successful and I'm seven months pregnant. You could say that I ended up paying over the odds, but as I expected, I'm so relieved I don't care! I personally found it reassuring to know that if the treatment didn't work, I wouldn't lose all my money and might be able to afford to try something else (donor eggs, perhaps?).

Grimbles · 03/03/2018 10:44

We are looking at them at the moment. Only issue is that they are asking for my online banking log-in details so they can access my bank account to take the payment. Obviously I'm not giving them my password, but it makes them look really dodgy even asking for it.

Hi everyone, I'm 47 years old (childless) and I've just started my 1st ever cycle of ivf using the Access Fertility IVF Donor Refund
Programme. This programme offers me 70% refund, the odds alone gave me 'hope'. All drugs were also included the only thing we found out that isn't included is the Quad Therapy medication (steroid tablets, and blood thinning injections) which has to be taken on blastocyst transfer day.
We paid via debit card over the phone, the package what's on offer is quite comprehensive.
I'm currently on my 2ww

It was for 3 fresh cycles, and cost £16.500
Before I knew about Access Fertility i thought I would be just wasting our money on false hope.
But as we got accepted it threw a total different light on it all..

We used access fertility (be ware there are multiple companies offering similar schemes with similar names). We paid for the three sessions, using my own eggs to have IVF. I had had two previous NHS sessions that had failed. We were accepted the the programme with access fertility and spent many hours trying to find a catch. Genuinely don’t think there is one and think how it works is that they select good hospitals and the chances of success are greater. We emailed many queries to access fertility once we had looked st their contract and they always came back promptly and clearly in writing. I think the scheme relies on a certain amount of first time success. We ended up paying around £18k or whatever the three attempts or money back cost was. It personally gave us peace of mind and meant I was less stressed as we knew we had three attempts or money back. Ours worked first time at the lister hospital in London and I now have health nine month twin girls - after nearly eight years of trying. I would say for us using access fertility was the right choice and I would recommend it to a friend if they were having problems and could justify the upfront cost. Good luck x

Hi, I know this thread is many years ago… but would you please let me know which clinic you’ve used? Thank you

hopeful02 · 05/09/2021 19:21

I would like to know as well

Gardenlady543 · 05/09/2021 20:45

I am using access fertility. When I signed up Care fertility was one of the clinics I could use. Although they have their own finance package now, so I don't think people can use access fertility with them now.
