What do we do? I'm so at a loss....
We have unexplained secondary infertility. Been trying nearly 2.5 years for sibling. I'm 40, I have a reasonably good AMH for my age (15.4) they can find nothing wrong with either of us, but then again I'm not sure that have looked that hard. Are there any tests I can do that haven't been done?
My blood levels for everything seem fine, DH sperm seems good, I had HSG after an ectopic that showed tubes all clear, I haven't had a laparoscopy? Should I? Is there anything that can be done? I hate the not knowing why it's not working... the doctors just say it's bad luck.. Sad

Hi. You have better AMH than I and I'm 28 (14). I managed to get 10 eggs and 7 fertilized. Could it be your age? I know the egg quality goes down a great deal when you hit 35. Or you could have immune issues.
It is frustrating. Other than my slightly low AMH, they couldn't understand why I coildnt get pregnant.

Hi cherry - thanks for replying & sorry you have had problems too. Yes, I'm sure age is a big factor, but then again lots of people get pregnant age 37/38 (the age I was when we started trying) and there's nothing obviously wrong with me, so why are my eggs so crap (if they are?) and I'd like to know they are crap rather than just assume, if you know what I mean, as then I'd know what to do..?

You can get extra tests done privately, and immune issues but they are expensive. I would ask your fertility consultant what other tests you can have there or elsewhere.

I am sorry you are going through this. From what I know unexplained and secondary infertility isn't easy to be treated, and requires a really knowledgeable and experienced doc. I can't help much with advice on additional tests, I have read that docs might recommend combining treatment with PGS NGS. Good luck

I also have a high amh (23 when I was 39)
Although I had a blocked tube I also probably have some form of pcos which is probably the cause of the blocked tube.
And with ivf you produce lots of eggs but they are poor quality.

Tbh I'm convinced that this ivf is purely down to luck. Perhaps try a different clinic?
Success is meant to be better with FET the older you are so maybe next time you should go for this option.

Good luck. I don't hold out much hope to get a sibling for my ds but am trying with a FET again......

there isn't an actual egg quality test. It doesn't exist.

You could assume egg quality is a problem and work on that - supplements, diet etc. That's what I'd do.

I think there is some luck involved too I must admit.

Sorry to hear about your failed cycles. Ivf is tough.

Hi Lardy - sorry you are struggling too. I should have added more detail in my OP, but despite my decent AMH I didn't respond all that well in my fresh cycles, first time I got just 5 eggs, only 2 fertilised properly, both transferred, ended in chemical pregnancy. 2nd time we got 7 eggs, 5 fertilised, 2 transferred on day 3, one frozen on day 5. Fresh transfer unsuccessful, so we did the FET with the one frostie i had, but that's just failed. So while FETs might be more successful for some, I've not had more than one embryo to freeze, so I've not had that choice! On our first round I think they gave me far too low a dose of stims, as they were intally worried I might over stims due to my AMH being good (!) so was only on 150 bemfola, so I think that's why I didn't respond that well. The 2nd time they upped me to 225 gonal f, and we did do better, bug still not that great. I don't have blocked tubes despite having had an ectopic 2 years ago, and I don't have PCOS... hence being at a loss... I guess I have to try to accept that the answer is age, but I do feel that I'm not THAT old, and certainly wasn't at the start of this process... but maybe I'm just being naive..
anyway, good luck to you with your journey x
