Fertility clinic

I live in London and would love recommendation on a good fertility clinic .
I think after my meeting with my NHS doctor who was not helpful, i need to consult privately. I am in a confused state of mind and need a clinic that would reassure me and be positive at all times.

What is your diagnosis? You mention in the "how are you?" thread that you have been TTC for 4 years. In what way was the NHS specialist unhelpful?

TammySwanson · 25/07/2017 16:21

As you are a newbie I should warn you about the spam posters posing as infertile people on here, advertising a dodgy clinic in Kiev, Ukraine. You can imagine how terrible their clinic must be if they have to use such tactics to get new clients. It must be the worst clinic in the world. Usually their posts are terrible English but sometimes they use copy and paste to make their posts a bit better but they are still slightly off so you can still tell. Anyway, good luck!

Ca you give us a bit more info on your diagnosis? Test results? Partner's test results?
What did the NHS clinic say?

blessi643 · 25/07/2017 19:02

Thanks for the respond. I did the blood test and was told that I based on my age (41) i was producing lower eggs though the doctor did not recommend clomid or any other medication. Infact right from the first meeting she already told me how its impossible to have a child unless its through IVF. I then did a circle monitoring after this then was sent to do a Hysterosiapingogram. I had a meeting with my doctor today for the result she just told me that I had a blocked, when I asked her what can be done she was very negative. First told me that I can only now get pregnant through IVF but i told her that I was told that blockages can be corrected she told me how I will have to be operated on and that it is a surgical procedure which may leave me with more tying. I just felt she was very negative, kept telling me that the only home is IVF. To be frank, I dont even have money for IVF as she told me that its £5000 through NHS and more private. I had to open a crowdfunding account to see if I could raise money this morning. I just feel that it is wrong that my age should determine help from NHS when I am paying so much for N.I. My partners sperm count is fine, he cant really help much as he is a still training to become a nurse. This was meant to be a 6 week holiday but I am going to be spending the next weeks worried about my chances of getting pregnant and how to save for IVF. Story of my miserable life.

Sorry for the typos, should have read the post before making public.

TammySwanson that for the advise, I joined today after my consultation.

Please spread the word about my crowd funding. I know there are so much good in people.

I don't mean to be rude here, but why is your need for fertility treatment any more important than that of anyone else who is struggling to pay for fertility treatment?

You're posting on a board for INFERTILITY, as the name suggests everyone else on here is infertile and likely to need any spare cash to fund their own treatment.

cherryontopp · 25/07/2017 19:18

EaelGrey i agree its quite cheeky of the OP but I've seen so many stupid and ridiculous bids for money on the Go Fund Me sites, at least its for a good cause.

blessi643 · 25/07/2017 20:07

EarlGreyT my inital post was for a clinic recommendation if you actually read it before the attack on my post. I did not say that my problem is far important than others, I stated my issues. I think you need to be more sensitive about peoples problems. I did not post the link for the crowdfunding if you noticed, I just mentioned it. It take a positive heart to listen and make quality contribution on peoples issues. I have had negativity through out today and dont need more.

EarlGreyT maybe i posted on the wrong thread, as a new member a little correction without the negative remark could have been better.

It's wrong for them to say NHS ivf will cost you £5000 - I think you've misunderstood that.
IVF on the NHS is free, other than the prescription charge for the medication plus paying for optional extras

However at 41, you will be outside the age range for most CCGs (hospital funding groups) so your consultant might have been saying it would cost £5k for you to have IVF privately at an NHS centre or more at a private clinic?
There are a few CCGs that will treat women up to 42 though so it is worth double checking

At 41 with low egg reserve plus blocked tubes, getting surgery for your tubes is probably not a good use of time. It has a fairly low success rate and each passing month will see your egg reserve fall.

You could look at clinics that do packages where they do ivf cycles back to back for 3 months and freeze as many embryos as possible, and then do a transfer for you after the last round.
It ensures they are collecting as many eggs as they can as soon as possible
From memory, the cost is around £7k for all 3 rounds plus the cost of the drugs so not cheap but possibly an appropriate option for you

Most clinics will do open days/evenings where you get a general sales pitch for the clinic plus a free 30 min consultation with a doctor.
It might be worth finding a couple of local clinics and going along to their open day and making a decision after that

@sparechange thank you very much for your informative answer. Please what is CCG. My consultant did tell me the cut off age for Croydon is 35 years and that I have to fund it priVately if I want to use NHS. she said it will cost me £5000 through NHS but more if I go to a private clinic. Please do you have an idea of any good one around South East? Is there a website I could use for to check for IVF clinic?

To many questions I know, but I do want to as many information as I can.

I think that if your tubes are blocked then IVF is probably the best option, as that effectively bypasses the problem.

Fertility treatment does cost money, so if your budget is tight then an overseas clinic is probably the way to go. I had some treatment at a central London clinic and even the costs for blood tests (which they make you have even with some NHS test results) mounted up alarmingly....Multiple tests at £50 or £75 each before you even saw a doctor. Just by way of an example.

I have seen good feedback on here about Reprofit in Czech R and Serum in Greece.

TipsNotHacks · 27/07/2017 15:30

No experience but yes, I always receive recommendations for Serum. I think they also do a couple of tests for underlying factors which have always interested me but my Fertility Specialist always said that they tested for such obscure things that it couldnt be proven otherwise. I followed her opinion completely though.
