What did you do in 2WW of successful IVF cycle?

I'm currently in 2WW of 2nd IVF cycle. Transferred 1 top quality blast yesterday. Last cycle I spent the 2ww chilling, watching box sets especially comedy, short walks outside and it didn't work. This time I'm having a couple of days at home then back to work. Today I've been sorting old books and putting into boxes (but not lifting the boxes). How much is too much activity? The nurse said to spend a couple of days doing nothing and now I'm worrying the book sorting was too much* (leaning over, crouching etc). Please tell me how you spent your first few days after ET the cycle it worked for you!* Thank you.

I had a rest a get days after egg collection as I was sore but after transfer I carried on as normal, i just didn't do any strenuous exercise or lifting. I don't think it really matters what you do, if the egg takes it takes.
Good luck

Thanks cherry. When I'm being rational I absolutely know that if it can implant, it just will but then I have a wobble!! Just had a massage (back and shoulders only) to try and chill out!!

On my first 2ww I carried on as usual and bled on day of test :-( on my second 2ww I got loads of rest I barely moved off the sofa. I got a bfp but sadly miscarried at 7.5 weeks.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss mother. That must have been terrible after finally getting your bfp. I'm getting on as normal this time but I do worry I'm doing too much. But I tried the sofa/box set route last time and started bleeding 5 days after transfer!! I know it's really just luck Confused

I was told to rest for the first 24 hours post-transfer. Which was fine by me as it had been a difficult ET lasting almost two hours due to my uncooperative cervix.

After that, we went for a lovely drive to the coast and had a very gentle walk along the seafront in the glorious sunshine. That was when I just knew the ivf had been successful.

I spent the next few days doing absolutely nothing, tested at 5dp5dt and got a positive Smile

Wow that's amazing tootsie. I don't really feel that Confused but hopefully can still get lucky too!

On all 4 of my 2WW (1 loss at 20 weeks, 1 failure, 1 mmc at 9 weeks, and a current pregnancy at 15 weeks), I didn't change a thing. Just carried on as usual.

You're over-analysing the book task Confused Ive been told the embryo transfer is like dropping a grain of sand in to a jam sandwich. It's not going anywhere because you've moved a few books around, I promise :) Don't forget women conceive and then run marathons, or work in factories/manual jobs, or shoot heroin in to their eyeballs, without knowing they're pregnant and go on to have healthy full-term babies.

I've had 12 x 2ww including 3 x IUI at the beginning and my advice is do whatever will make you feel at peace if it doesn't work out. I knew realistically that nothing I did would make any difference but when I rested and took care of myself it helped me to feel I had done everything I could have and that helped me to come to terms with all the negatives eventually.
(Success on cycles 5, 7 and 9)

I did nothing major different. Had the afternoon of ET off, then went back to work the next day.

Only changes I made were:

  • eating pineapple core (supposedly good for implantation...?)
  • listening to zita west ivf cd- visualisation techniques for ivf
  • using non fragranced toiletries (embryos don't like strong smells apparently)
  • no heavy lifting, drinking booze, caffeine- obviously

Think that's it. There is definitely a sense of if it works it works...

Did you find the progesterone gave you any symptoms? My boobs don't hurt at all and my normal pre-period spots have arrived. I worry the progesterone doesn't work on me Confused

I carried on as usual. Went straight back to work following ET and exercised etc as normal. Drank in moderation ate normally. Got a pretty strong BFP 5dp5dt. The progesterone gave me all sorts of side effects and I felt like I was about to start my period constantly.
