Any advice for sore boobs?

Not strictly fertility related, but really hoping for some helpful suggestions.

I've always suffered horrendously with sore boobs in the second half of my cycle. It's one of the reasons I spent so many years on bc so I didn't have to deal with it.

Been off the pill 14 months now ttc (laughs bitterly) and the discomfort is driving me mad. I'm only on day 11 of this cycle and they are already starting to swell and get sore. I've got horribly irregular cycles now too (recently been diagnosed with POF) so sometimes I'm in serious discomfort for weeks when my cycles are longSad

I take 1000mg evening primrose oil a day, but it's making little difference.

Any suggestions please? I'm sick of living in a sports bra half the time!

I sometimes suffer really badly in the second half of my cycle too. Doctors weren't able to help. Apparently it can be caused by excess oestrogen and is common in endometriosis sufferers. Do you have endo?

I get this, it's horrible. A doctor recommended progesterone cream but you can't get it where I live! Nurofen was her second suggestion but I'd go through boxes each month. No practical solution for you but sympathy, it is hellish.

No endo as far as I'm aware whereiscaroline I've just had three day bloods done and oestrogen was 92. Not sure if that's considered low or high?

DermotTheSprog I'll look into progesterone cream, thanks. Sorry to hear you can't get it where you are. Painkillers make no difference for me either. Dreading the next fortnight. I've got a bra fitting for my wedding week after next and my boobs are probably going to be twice their normal size! I'm quite petite and small chested too, so I feel like it's horribly noticeable when they swell.

Do either of you know if your mothers suffered with it? Apparently mine did before menopause, so perhaps it's hereditary?

Mine didn't but according to her she never suffer a twinge of pain in her life so I suspect selective memory rather than hard fact!

This might be something to research: apparently b6 raises progesterone so might act a bit like progesterone cream?

Is there vit E in your oil? That can help. And a general super healthy diet. I used to get very sore breasts but it all want away and my PMS completely vanished within a few weeks of healthy eating. Not sure what exactly did the trick but I eat 600-700g of veg and fruit a day, whole grains, ample protein and healthy fats (oily fish, nuts and seeds, avocados etc). I've also been getting plenty of sunshine for vit D + take a supplement called Profertil.

I already take vitamin e 400 iui as part of my not remotely working fertility vitamin routine.

I eat fairly healthily. I'm veggie, lots of water, limited caffeine etc. I do try for the fruit and veg, but don't always get there. I tried the whole nuts, protein fertility diet for a while, but just put on weight!Shock

They were bigger and more painful last night than when I got up in the morning. Now they are even more swollen today. Argh!
