Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Avocado, very similar results!! Most recently LH was 10.8, FSH was 6.9. My AFC always high ranging 40-50. We have been TTC for 2 years, ovulation was always picked up on OPK sticks. Progesterone indicated ovulation as well. My consultant says eggs might have been released but not mature so would fail to fertilise. It makes sense to me, not quite typical PCOS but some imbalance for sure. Can't wait to see what happens, first IVF is somewhat diagnostic.
We are based in London but will be going to Norway for the IVF.

Thomasina76, fingers crossed for you!! IUI is certainly less invasive, hope it works for you x

Scottishgirl85, good luck with your cycle! Which clinic abroad are you going to? Are you in London? Have you arranged follicle tracking scans? I am thinking to have 3 scans before I fly out for EC, just wondering if I should book it quite soon, never know if they are busy

Meadow, sorry to hear about ectopic, hope you are doing well x

Veinarde, wow are results are so similar! I too always pick up the LH surge on OPKs and my progesterone indicates ovulation. I also has a scan at one point that showed I had ovulated. It will be interesting to see if we are treated exactly the same. Have you ever tried Clomid? I'm on my 4th and final month of it with no success. I wasn't expecting it to work as I know I already ovulate, just a final shot before something more invasive. How old are you? I'm due to start Jul 10th ish, so only a month behind you!

My GP and then NHS consultant failed to notice any signs of PCO/S as the hormones are actually within the range, they didn't mention anything about the ratio. They didn't want to prescribe clomid as I ovulate and have normal weight. It's quite annoying as if I knew what is wrong before I could have tried some other treatments. I feel I'm ready for the ivf now so going straight there!
My Dr says Metformin could help in my case as it helps with insulin resistance which is found in like 80% cases of PCOS including lean women. I did some research online & it is prescribed routinely alongside clomid! We're you not offered it?
I am 31 now, have been trying for 2 years already with not even a hint of pregnancy :(

Same for me - GP/NHS consultant wouldn't prescribe clomid for me because I was just within the norm ranges and had proof I ovulate. I could see the results were only just within the norm ranges and all pointing towards POCS so I went to a private clinic where they let me try clomid. Not sure if it was the right thing to do or not but I wanted to give it a try. They never mentioned Metformin. I'm 30, normal BMI and never a had a hint of BFP either :(

Veinarde, has your doctor given you a view on the likelihood of IVF working for you? E.g. A percentage chance or anything like that

Is everyone in this convo expecting to transfer a single embryo? Or has your doctor recommended two?

Avocado, My doctor reckons I have 80% chance from two attempts. He warned I might not be able to have a fresh transfer if I'll show signs of overstimulation, will have to freeze all and have a FET later. I'm trying not to hold too much expectations of what is going to happen, no idea how my body is going to react.
They can transfer two embryos but not recommending. I would go for one for now :) what are your thoughts on this?

That sounds very promising! I am expecting to hear the same re risk of overstimulation. I think FET success rates are about the same as fresh transfer success rates so hopefully not too much of a problem in the long run. I've not had any discussion with my doctor on how many embryos he would want to transfer. Im expecting that it will be 1 which is fine with me if it's a good quality one

Hi Veinarde! Is that sooner than you originally expected? Are you still doing short protocol? Eeek, I'm excited for you, let us know how it goes!

I've lost track, where is everyone at? Do you start soon veinarde?
I had my first scan today, 17 follicles which I think is quite good. Second scan on Monday and then we fly out Tuesday. Egg collection will be Weds, Thurs or Fri.
Bit of a nightmare as our little girl has chicken pox so doubt she can come with us. So DH will need to fly back home soon after egg collection and I'll stay out on my own for transfer if we get that far. Wasn't quite the 'holiday' we planned and lots of money wasted on flights but never mind!
Hope everyone else is doing well xx

Scottish, 17 sounds great! How many days had you been stimulating for at that point?

Thanks, I'm hoping it's a good start, although our issue is mfi so it's the fertilisation bit that I'm worrying about.. That was day 7 of stims.
How are you doing? Xx

Are you have ICSI Scottish? Sorry, can't remember if I have asked you that before. I am doing fine at the min, wishing I hadn't delayed treatment by a month but think I probably had to go through that little wobble. All being well I will have transferred this time in 2 months so it's not that far away.

It'll fly by, you made the right decision, you wavered so was best thing for you. Now you're wanting time to speed up, it's the sign that you are ready! 😁
Yes icsi, and probably picsi where they select specific sperm. Hubby had ridiculously low count. I'm terrified there will be nothing to use...

Avocadosmoothie · 29/05/2017 07:40

Yes I think you're right, I do have some reassurance in the fact I wish I hadn't delayed now.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, remember you only need one viable sperm for a baby.

How have you felt during stimms? Any abdominal pain?

Hi everyone can I join in? Just had my prosap injection today, start on menopur next week. I'm 39, this is our first go at IVF / ICSI after DH vasectomy reversal failed 2 years ago. We're paying privately as not eligible on NHS so it's taken a while for us to get here. Feeling pretty excited but also worried about how all the hormones are going to affect me!

Scottishgirl85 · 29/05/2017 20:52

Welcome mynameisscott! Wishing you all the best for your treatment. Which clinic are you with?
Avocado, stims were very uncomfortable around day 8 and then the pain vanished which really worried me. I thought I'd ovulated! Scan today shows things on track. Egg collection set for Thursday. It's really happening, eeek. Total of 10 days on stims, tomorrow I trigger, then day off meds weds and EC thurs. x

Welcome Scott! Are you short or long protocol?

Scottish, eeek you are nearly there!!! So will EC be your CD13? I think EC is normally around CD 12-14, does that sound right? Do you think the pain was overstimulation? How many eggs are you expecting to retrieve. It's very real now isn't it, glad everything is going well so far, exciting!!!

Yup my clinic say it's almost always day 12-14. I'll be day 13. I normally have long cycles, so it's really not connected at all, as I guess it's completely artificial environment that they create. Don't think I'm overstimulated, but I have quite a lot of follicles (21 today), so that's bound to be uncomfortable. Not all will contain eggs, no idea how many eggs I might expect. I'd love to get 10. I'd be happy with that!

Hi Scottish hi Avocado! I'm on long protocol with Glasgow Centre for Reproductive Medicine. Getting most of my scans etc at the Edinburgh Clinic (v. Swanky!) as I live nearer there, but need to go to Glasgow for EC. Scottish sounds like you're a couple of weeks ahead of me... 21 follicles sounds amazing, I've no idea what to expect, have been told our odds are 30% which doesn't sound great but I'm remaining positive, don't feel old but according to all the stats I'm pretty much geriatric at 39. Good luck!

mynameisscott · 30/05/2017 07:41

Ps Avocado we had to delay treatment for a month because one of the blood tests we needed hadn't been done. Rocked up a month ago all ready to start and had to go home again. It's been a long month but think we floated through ok, and got lots of diy done! All part of the journey...

Hi all! Hope you had a lovely weekend!
I had so much food and wine, last time indulgence before starting stimming!
Scottish, well done on 21 follicles! Great number! Good luck on EC, hope all goes well for you xx
Scott, welcome! Good luck with your treatment as well xx
I am about to start my short protocol next Monday, EC will be around 16th June.

Ah Scott I am from near Glasgow but married an Englishman and now live in South East England! 😁
Good luck with starting veinarde!
As for me, we've done the trigger shot. I won't lie it's probably the single most stressful moment of my life! Complete drama as we had watched the video but forgot to read the instructions! So the minute of injection came (it's precisely timed), and I noticed a big picture of a bum on the leaflet, for the injection site, but we did in tummy as no way I was doing intramuscular without training! Turns out it can go either tummy or bum, thank goodness! Fly tomorrow. Eeek!
Good luck everyone X
