Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Mine said 2 weeks too Avocado

Great news for you Scottish

How did your injections go Veinarde? Did you say you're on the long or short protocol? I'm going to be starting just a few days after you (on Thurs) using Buserelin.

Good luck for tomorrow Macarena

I guess I might be on a similar timescale to you MrsDarcy (maybe a bit behind).

Macarena, good luck with ET tomorrow!
Scottish, amazing news! I really hope we start seeing those BFPs soon! :)

Avocado, I am taking Metformin, apparently it helps to reduce the risk of OHSS in those with PCO/S. Also been advised to drink full fat milk, lots of water and eat lots of protein. Will be hard not to gain weight on this regime! :)

We decided to delay injection by a day so there is less risk of EC falling on the weekend, so will be starting tomorrow after all. My clinic is not open on weekends.

Jessica, I am on a short protocol as I have PCO. How long are you doing Buserelin for?

Hi all, can I join you?
Started first cycle of long protocol IVF yesterday with buserelin. So similar timings to Scott and Darcy, I think?

I was a bit anxious about doing the injections but so far so good! Been TTC for over two years (unexplained) so feels good to be trying something new.

Wishing everyone on the thread very good luck...

Hello everyone.

Great news Scottish - will keep everything crossed for you!

Good luck for today Macarena, hope all goes well.

I'm on day three of stims. Injections have been ok - a bit fiddly mixing everything. I feel ok. Bit of a headache but trying to drink plenty - which I'm not normally very good at. Sounds like there are a few people at a similar stage - good luck everyone!

xx

Veinarde, my clinic is not open at the weekend either. What day did your clinic suspect EC would be? My consultant said with my stats EC could be as early as day 8. I think that must mean Day 8 of injections which could be CD 9/10.

Good luck everyone doing injections this week!

Avocado, My clinic says the EC could be anytime from day 10 of stims, I booked a scan on day 5 and then day 8. Depending on the results of the latter they can instruct to trigger that day or have another scan on day 10. It is so unpredictable how each of us are going to react to drugs, so hard to plan! Just booked my flights to Norway, will stay for 9 days in total, I hope this will be enough to cover for all scenarios :)

Avocadosmoothie · 07/06/2017 12:17

Oh I've just realised my consultant said the trigger shot (not EC) could be as early as day 8 which maybe makes a bit more sense - and more in line with your timings! 9 days sounds good!

Scottish, we're you able to bring your meds in your hand luggage or did you check them in? I am wondering if they allow to take needles on board.

Avocado, makes sense! Basically same as what my Dr said

You have to have a letter from your clinic to be able to take meds and needles on the plane. They have to go on as hand luggage as the hold can reach freezing temperatures. The main issue is check if any of your meds need to be kept at fridge temperature. You're not allowed ice packs etc as hand luggage as think they are often over 100ml, so it means a lot of hassle with ice packs up to security, then chuck those and ask for ice on plane etc. I worried about my trigger injection as it needed to be at fridge temperature. Although in the end we travelled the morning after trigger so didn't need to carry any meds despite worrying about it for weeks!! My clinic do a meds free day between trigger and collection, so we travelled that day. x

I was worried about weekend timings, luckily my collection was a Thursday and transfer Tuesday so it worked out. I think clinics should open weekends!
If it helps I stimmed between cycle day 2 and 10, my trigger was on cycle day 11, no meds day 12, collection day 13.
Veinarde we did similar, staying in Czech Republic for 8 nights. We've had a lovely holiday in the sun! I'm sad to be going home tomorrow!

Hi all, had my ET today, the embryologist told us that 1 was at the correct stage for day 5, but very slightly fragmented around edges, she did say they were being a bit picky. The other was perfect in terms of shape but a little behind the other in growth. After talking we agreed to put 2 back in.
Not sure how all this effects our chances. Had a quiet day, went for a wee walk tonight and now deciding weather to go back to work tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is well! Xx

Congratulations macarena! That's a great result. I'd have done exactly the same in your position, you've done all you can. It's a weird feeling isn't it? Wishing you all the very best for the 2ww. When is your OTD? X

Macarena1980 · 08/06/2017 09:23

Had to look up OTD as new to all this... its on the 19th of June! So quicker than I thought I guess they count from the ER date. I asked the nurse if I should do a test before and recommend not to this time... don't think I could wait. Xx

Scottish, thank you so much for the tips over the meds transportation! Very useful xx I asked for the letter this morning.
We are quite looking forward to the trip! Norway is so beautiful! We are planning to do the Atlantic road drive ideally before the EC, or after, I really hope I'll feel ok for it. X

Fingers crossed for you Macarena! X

My first injection was a bit stingy last night, and Menopur really burns! I think my DH injected too quickly!

Good luck Veinarde, taking a trip sounds like a nice relaxing way of taking your mind off things. Fingers crossed you'll be fine. Xx

Just had a call from the clinic and they have frozen a 3rd embryo today, it wasn't as good quality as yesterday's good one but still gives me more hope. Smile

Hope everyone's doing well xx

Congratulations Macarena!!!

On OTD, i heard that the trigger shot could affect a test result if it is still in your system?

I just had a final scan before I hopefully start injections next week and I already have more than 40 follicles without any injections so I'm hoping they will start me on a v low dose! Got my teach appt this afternoon and will check then!

Hey everyone great to hear things are all going well so far for those of you a bit further on than me. I'm feeling pretty jealous of your travels. I'm just fitting everything in around work, I'm going straight to an event tomorrow eve so actually having to take some menopur with me in my handbag so I can do my injection in the loo! Can I ask Veinarde and Scottish how did you decide what clinic to go to? Are they cheaper/better in Norway and Czech Rep? I had looked into Denmark before but decided the cost of accommodation and being away would be too much. Are you doing all your treatment abroad or just some?

Report
Scottishgirl85 · 08/06/2017 21:36

Macarena, amazing news that they froze the last one!! Great result.
Avocado, wow 40! I'm sure your clinic will control you as well as they can. Do you know the drugs you'll be on? I'm assuming you'll do short protocol?
Scott, we chose Reprofit in Czech republic as my good friend went there. I am so happy with them, even if this cycle doesn't work. The cost difference is amazing and technology they use is very advanced with excellent results. We paid 1850euros for our cycle including icsi plus 200euros for STD testing that you have to do at their clinic. Flights 200euros, accommodation for 8 nights 500euros, spending money about 400euros which included meals and loads of sightseeing and activities. We then spent 350euros freezing extra embryos, so about 3500euros total and we got an amazing holiday out of it! In UK I worked out we were looking at about 7-8k. I couldn't recommend going abroad enough!!

mynameisscott · 09/06/2017 17:45

Wow Scottish that's such a difference in cost! We're paying about £7k and that's the one shot we can afford. I had no idea it was such a difference. Thanks for the breakdown that's really helpful. Hope you're feeling ok. Hope everyone else is doing good too, all the waiting and uncertainty is definitely the worst part of all of this. X

Hi all

Hope you're all well. Wow Scottish, that cost difference is amazing... This is our first cycle and is on the NHS - we've been happy with the clinic so far, but if we need other cycles we'd definitely consider going abroad.

Fingers crossed for everyone in the 2ww.

As for me, properly in to the swing of the buserelin injections. Not sleeping that well but that might also have been the election last night....

Good evening ladies! Hope you had a nice day and looking forward to a lovely sunny (ish) weekend! Trying to take my mind off the treatment and going out for some shopping and meeting friends for lunch :)

Macarena, it's amazing they managed to freeze one! X

Avocado, have you been told what drugs are you going to be on? Menopur/ Gonal-F? Have they recommended Metformin?

Scott, what day stims are you on? How do you find Menopur? For me it really stings and burns!

In terms of the clinic selection, I was comparing Lister, CRGH, Zita West, Reprofit and Klinnik Hausken. Abroad is definitely cheaper but also clinics tend to be less busy, you have direct contact with the doctor and your assigned nurse at any time. We chose Norway as we wanted to visit the country, as we've been to Czech already. You are expected to spend at least a week there. In our clinic IVF/ ICSI is costing £2,000 plus we paid £500 for the accommodation (bargain!), flights £250. I liked the fact they use Embrioscope as standard, apparently it allows to choose the best developing embryo by allowing to track its development digitally. I had a scratch and blood tests inclusive of our initial consultation visit (£200). I have to say with cycling abroad you have to be prepared for the risk of something going wrong- EC/ ET can be delayed, you might need to change the flights/ risk of falling ill/ OHSS. But you save a lot of money in total :)

Hi all, can I join?

Husband and I have been ttc for 5 years and I have pcos.

Started our 1st round of ivf, we're on short protocol. Hubby injected me for the 1st time last night. Is anyone else on merional, if so have you experienced any side effects?

Anyone on the same sort of timings? Would like a buddy, feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all.
