Uterine polyps removal - questions

Hello everyone! I was looking for advice as I may have to have a hysteroscopy to remove two uterine polyps.

I have the option of doing it privately at the Lister Hospital in Chelsea or the Portland Hospital in London. Does anyone have any experiences in these places? Or would it be better to do it through the NHS?

Also, was the procedure painful? Has anyone had local anesthetic and what did it consist of (as I understand that this operation is not normally done under general anesthetic)?

I'd always go via NHS as better back up in case of emergency. It's actually safer with local anaesthetic- but pretty safe anyway. Perforations are less common under local. I also have personal experience and it wasn't pleasant but wasn't awful either. I took paracetamol beforehand and didn't really feel hysteroscope being passed through cervix despite cervical stenosis. It wasn't painful just uncomfortable and a bit messy but all over quickly enough.

Marginally so because the women is conscious, gynaecologists tend to be slightly gentler to avoid distress of the pushing around. More gentle pushing means less risk of perforations plus woman can talk about what they are feeling.

I had hysteroscopy and polyp removal under general anaesthetic about 18 months ago. It was with my NHS doctor at my local hospital but privately as it was covered by private medical insurance. It wasn't painful but there was some bleeding afterwards and I had to buy some pads. The (few) other people that I know that have had the procedure under GA too.

I had this under GA many years ago it was fine.
It's not a big op, some spotting for a few days after.
Try not to worry.
I've never heard of it being done under local though, I've had hysteroscopy without GA but not uterine polyp removal.

I have had it under GA too and recovered really quickly after the anaesthetic. I had another procedure on my cervix too. Not much pain at all afterwards, just had to avoid swimming and too much exercise. Nhs were great but you have a longer wait. If you're pushed for time, private could be better.

I ttc as soon as I was able to (after recovery period if I remember) and got pregnant very quickly. I was worried it might hinder the process, but it was fine.
