Hello everyone, I would like to apologise in advance as I am a complete amateur at this. Basically I wanted to start a thread (no doubt it's already been covered but I dunno where to look!). Basically me and Hubby have been trying TTC for 5years now, I have Pcos and endo, which has been removed also I have a small polyp in which the doc says isn't a problem. Hubby has had all his checks and is all good too. I had a lap and dye last August to assess and further issues all okay and consultants happy with outcome. Now this is where the problem begins. Before my lap and dye I have lost 18lbs in weight and my periods had regulated themselves into a normal 28 cycle. After my lap and dye it never came back. I regained the weight and broke out in acne which I haven't had for over 12years. It was almost like the lap and dye reversed all my hard work :( anywho, I went to Fertility specialist in Nov 16 and they have decided to put me on Clomid, to take during my bleeds for 6 cycles until my next review. So my 1st question I guess is what are people's experiences of clomid, what should I expect etc. I still. Haven't had a bleed so I've been but on Provera for 10days since Friday to encourage a withdrawal bleed. So 2nd question had anyone had to do the process this way also? Provera for 10 days then Clomid? Please any experience, advice etc will be greatly appreciated. I'm back on my diet now and in a week I've lost 5lbs so hoping I can get it back off as I know it all helps. Again sorry for waffling, THANK YOU! xx

Hi!

I'm also an amateur, but I'm going through almost the same thing as you! I too have been put on meds to induce a period (Norethisterone) and then to take clomid cycle days 5-9 for 3 months.. I haven't had a real period since October 16, due to having a chemical menopause for the Endo! Unfortunately 6 days after Norethisterone has finished, I still don't have a period! (Charming eh....) so yeah, it's the correct way to go about regulating or creating cycles and trying to stimulate ovulation...
You should have a bleed 3-7 days after you stop Provera.. then take the clomid as directed. I've heard the side effects of clomid and Endometriosis aren't too great but in my opinion it's worth it if it gets you where you need to be!
I really keep my fingers crossed for you and hope it all works out!! Smile Flowers

I am an expert by any means but I'm willing to share my story.

Firstly provera takes upto 14 days to induce a bleed, everyone is different but for me it's between 10 and 14 days.

I took clomid cycle days 2-6. 50mg and 100mg didn't induce ovulation for me (pcos) so we're therefore discounted cycles.

150mg worked allowing ovulation of one egg.

I have had 2 losses on clomid, it is not related to the clomid itself, I'm just got unlucky. I am now 14 weeks pregnant with a clomid baby.

The only side effect I had on clomid was hot flushes. I always took it at night, I read alot about how this can ease side effects so that's what I did.
Everyone is different and every reacts different.

Clomid also gave me lengthy cycles, I ovulated on day 17 of a 33 day cycle.

Best of luck to you Flowers

I would think your PCOS has returned; infact it never went away. Did they look at your ovaries at all during the laparoscopy in terms of lasering the cystic follicles on the ovaries?. What was the overall purpose of the lap; was any further endo removed?. What did they tell you post op about the findings of this operation?.

Your weight loss did help with the restoration of periods but the regained weight has exacerbated your current symptoms. The acne is certainly related to PCOS.

Are you being monitored whilst on clomid; if not you should be as it is quite powerful stuff. Not being monitored means that you have no idea of whether its doing what it is supposed to be doing. Clomid is supposed to make the ovaries work harder.

It seems strange for them to now offer you provera and clomid post lap; usually its the other way around.

Have they also tested your DH to see if there are any male factor problems?.

I see that they have tested your DH so this is good.
