Can my GP prescribe clomid if I have had all the pre-investigations.

Hi there hoping for a second child and became pregnant on clomid with my first child. We started the process again last year and I have had all the investigations which came back normal. I have now been waiting 3 months for an appointment to receive the clomid.
I had a letter this week stating that I had an appointment at the end of June.
Then a day later another letter to say the end of July. Now today I have had a further letter saying the 29th August.
It's wasting precious time as I'm almost 40.
Has anyone else had the clomid prescription off their GP?

I know why they keep bumping me. It's so the consultant can see private patients!

As far as I know it has to be prescribed by the hospital that are doing the investigations not the gp - certainly in our area
3 months between appointments seemed about what we waited and then sometimes it was just to say 'yes tests all normal go for blood tests and make another appointment!' Which would be ina. Few months!
I think the only thing you could do is try ringing for a cancellation?

No that is not why you are being bumped. The consultant will be seeing much more urgent cases: Possible cancer diagnosis which need immediate referral, serious conditions that have taken a turn for the worse ie endo. Unfortunately in terms of what you need to see the consultant for on the NHS - your priority is not that high.

Your gp may prescribe it but it will depend on how it was monitored last time you were on it. If you had follicle tracking scans etc and bloodwork he obv can't prescribe it.

If you were just given the tablets last time your GP may just do it for you. No way to know unless you ask.

FYI one cycle worth of clomid 50mg is only about 15 quid on a private prescription.

I suppose that makes sense about the more urgent cases. It's just galling to have 3 letters in one week.

The last time there was no follicle tracking they just gave me the prescription and told me to pretty much get on with it. I had no reasons for the infertility the first time just 2 and a half years of no conceiving.

It's taken me 5 years to try again because I dislocated my pelvis really badly and it's been years of appointments to rectify it with surgery. Now I have a bionic pelvis and sacroiliac joints I feel finally prepared but stressed that the time is ticking on and conscious that there will be a big gap between them should we be lucky enough to have a second.

My appointment kept getting put back and put back. I tortured my GP for clomid and he said in all his 16 years as a gp he's never prescribed it, they have to follow guidelines. You could try private or buy some online. The online Oxford pharmacy is a registered pharmacy (I have looked it up) and it's only £15. I went private in the end and only 2 months worth at 50mg so I was thinking of buying more online. If you don't feel safe then I'd recommend private. You'd get it at the consultation possibly.

My husband is a GP and won't prescribe it as it is a medication a specialist knows most about. Saying that, I had to wait an extra month to see my consultant as he was on holiday and I explained this to my own GP and she did prescribe it for one month....she wouldn't have done it for any longer though.
