Infertility

25% protein, <40% carb diet

I keep hearing about improved pregnancy rates in ivf when eating high protein low carb diets. I have just spent a fun hour and a half Hmm inputting our usual meals into my fitness app to see what my % breakdown is like, but I am generally too low on protein and too high on carbs. Is anyone doing this? Is there a good diet book to use?

hi hugamug

i haven't used a book but things i ate were

greek yoghurt - high in protein
milk - okish protein
salmon/seabass/occasional tuna
LOADS of eggs. Like nearly every day.
chicken/turkey
and nuts/avacado for the good fats part

i basically had minimum bread and cereal. all my carbs were from fruits and veg only
its not the best fun! not sure if it makes much diff but my current clinic r very keen on upping the protein pre ivf.

good luck!

Thanks trying, I don't eat many carbs but I'm going to miss them!

I really think a high protein diet works. I got pregnant naturally after trying for quite a while but I ate loads of chicken, eggs, meat in general and nuts. Good luck!

Yes, I do this. It hasn't helped with pregnancy (yet!) but I've lost lots of weight and got my BMI down to a healthy level, which can't be a bad thing for future cycles.

I use myfitnesspal to check my ratios...I'm not obsessive about the percentages, but I've more-or-less given up bread, rice and pasta. I used to be a complete pasta fiend and I couldn't imagine it being any other way, but now, I just make lots of healthy sauce when the rest of the family is having pasta, and either go without the pasta or eat about a third of my "normal" portion.
