Hello, I was hoping that some people here might know how to help with this. We've had 4 mcs now and I've just been referred to Coventry's "infertility (general) obstetrics and gynae" clinic, which I think is the one run by Siobhan Quenby?

Can anyone tell me what will be involved?

Do they do a sample right away or start with blood tests? I'm terrified by the idea of a "scrape"!

Hey there.

I'm sorry for your losses. I've been to Prof Quenby's clinic following 5 miscarriages. I self-referred as I think a large proportion of people do. I'd had the routine nhs tests done elsewhere and that failed to come up with a cause for the miscarriages so I went to Prof Quenby specifically for the biopsy which tests uNK cells. I don't know what it involves if you haven't had tests elsewhere, but for me I arrived, had an interview with one of her colleagues who was very empathic and knowledgable then I had the biopsy. The biopsy was fine - they give you gas and air which I used 'enthusiastically'. I gather some people find it quite painful though so it is slightly luck of the draw. They send an email with the results a few weeks later, then you get a phone consult with one of the Drs to discuss your treatment plan. They're very good - you'll be well looked after.

As I said I had routine tests elsewhere and that involved them taking shed loads of blood to run various tests on and doing an ultrasound to check for uterine sbnormalities.

There's an active thread in the miscartiage section for people who have suffered multiple miscarriages. It's really supportive - called tests, treatment and trying again. I'd recommend it for more info and support.
