Had all the tests - now what?

I guess we have reached the 'unexplained' stage and I'm hoping for a bit of advice. 16 months of trying for DC1 and not a hint of a BFP. I'm 30 and DH is 34.

My cycles are regular, had a clear HyCoSy, good blood tests and using CBFM. All seems normal. My BMI is 22.5.

DH had 2 sperm analyses. Morphology maybe a bit low at 4% but he's seen a urologist who wasn't concerned at all.

So - now what? Our sex life is becoming a bit rubbish if I'm honest. It seems everyone I know is pregnant and it all makes me feel a bit tearful Sad. It's like my life is on hold (job, house move etc) waiting for that BFP. Anyone in this boat or can make suggestions of anything we could try?

Hi vin just wanted to say I'm also 30 and dh 33. 3 years ttc and have morphology issues here 2. our consultant told dh to take 1000mg vit c a day and by the time we did our first ivf 6 months later he had normal morphology. zinc and selenium were also recommended. high protein (>25%) and low carb (

Thank you lildottie. DH swallowing his vitamin as I type! Is that high protein and low carb for female, male or both? Have you had IVF success?

How did you get on today KL24? Hope you got some answers Flowers

I think the study was on women but the thought process is protein is the building block of life so should/could help with mfi too. as for ivf success yes and no. I got a bfp after my first round in Feb but mc a week later. due to start long protocol again on 25/8.

Hi Vince

Great to hear that the DH is on board now you have some stats, 2 years may still seam like too far off (or 3 even if you decide to wait for NHS IVF). But in my expense although each month has felt like a drag, when i look back it doesn't feel like I've been waiting nearly 3 now - Hold in there!

I can actually report that overall I had a good meeting.
My list of questions went completely out the window as I got a bit of a curve ball that I wasn't expecting!.
Apparently I have a polyp that they have booked me in for an pop to remove, although they said this has has no bearing on my infertility now they know its there they want it out.
We have come back with the unexplained diagnosis - I'm convinced that my cycles being 15 to 41 days means that there is a problem somewhere and they could find it if they investigated further,,,but the consultant actually made me see the rational that they could look and take forever in finding something to try and treat, with no guarantees that it would work to finally end up at the same point - which is IVF! But in our area they recommend IUI first (not usual for the unexplained) but they said even if only saves 20 out of 100 couples the invasion of IVF they think its worth it. So have agreed 3 rounds then the IVF. waiting on my referral and should start after my op & recovery time.
PROGRESS AT LONG LAST.
I still need a pin for my now even more optimistic DH as he's convinced the first IUI will work! and trying to work out the plan for work/maternity leave/childcare! I swear he'll be be getting university prospectus by the weekend!!!! It hasn't jet sunk in with him that we are now really just at the start of a difficult journey!

Sorry to hear about your mc, lil. Really hope it works out for you this time Flowers

Sounds like success to me, KL. I think that is quite unusual, being offered the IUI. But I agree about the invasiveness, and would definitely want to try IUI if offered it. Hope it works and your DH is right!

DH received a letter yesterday following his visit to the urologist 3 weeks ago. Although the letter doesn't mention his morphology (which I was a bit concerned about - 3%/4%) - it does say his count is on the lower side, just in normal range. This is news to us! They keep telling us everything is fine during the appointment and then breaking additional news in the follow-up letter. So strange. Still doesn't change anything though.

Good luck with your op, KL. Any idea how soon that will be? Then you can start IUI! Hooray!
