Hello ladies,

Has any of you done an Aqua Scan (Saline Infusion Sonography) as preparation for IVF transfer, my clinic is offering it but is expensive (£270) so I was winding if anyone has done and what do they feel about it?

Many many thanks!

PS: I am 43 and going for my 4th cycle with donor eggs

Is that basically a HyCoSy? If so, I thought a big part of the point was to see whether your tubes are open or blocked, which isn't really relevant if you're a) having IVF and b) using donor eggs anyway. What do your clinic say?

Very late to the party in responding - just saw this during a search. I had a Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS) last week. It was useful as it identified polyps that need to be removed (a standard ultrasound won’t pick that up - the saline solution allows the doctor to see more than a standard ultrasound). This could be wholly or partly why we’ve struggled to conceive. I’m told that polyps must be removed before IVF, as the polyps can block implantation. SIS procedure wasn’t painful - slightly uncomfortable as the ultrasound prod moved around and felt bloated for 48H, then back to normal. Good luck
