Miscarriage after IVF

Hi all
I was wondering if anyone had any info/ advice/ positive experiences following miscarriage after IVF?
I have just had second cycle and unfortunately although I'm showing positive have either miscarried ( although thry can't find a sac or baby) or have an ectopic. My first cycle ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks. So, although I seem to be getting pregnant I'm not developing lasting pregnancies. I'm 39 so realise that I have increased risk of embryos not being lasting pregnancies. It's all just so confusing and I feel like maybe any more attempts will end the same way ?

Hi whippet. I'm sorry to hear about ur losses. I don't have any postive news but a lot of ladies do immunology blood tests to look into nk cells etc. I've gone the opposite way round in that I've had 3 natural miscarriages got NK cells checked. Then couldn't get preg and on my ivf route now but with a whole loads of meds to hopefully stop me miscarrying if I get a BFP. It's controversial and not all ivf places do it....but my clinic do test for it and are supporting me with pred, intralipids clexane and asprin.
Obv it could be age related to, and it's hard to know how much money to spend on tests that may or not be helpful.
I hope u find some answers. Flowers

I second what trying says. What was your history prior to IVF? Do you know the cause of your infertility? Any previous miscarriages or chemical pregnancies? Has anyone in your family been through the same. There's a recurrent miscarriage thread with lots of very knowledgeable ladies on it who will be a good source of info if this is a miscarriage.

One of the things that always worried me about IVF having never been pregnant before was that there are so many ways in which things can go wrong between fertilisation and birth, and even though we knew we had both male and female factor infertility that didn't mean we didn't also have susceptibility to those things too. In the event, our first IVF ended in ectopic. We're just about to have a FET, which I can only hope proves the ectopic was terrible luck.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am for you, i got my first bfp in 7 years and 4 ivfs last month, I had clexane Gestone and prednisilone which I think helped me get pregnant, it was twins and I lost them last week at 8.5weeks. I'm having immunes screening before my fet x

So sorry to hear that Lauren83 ?? it is such a cruel process.
I will ask about the screening, but I keep getting the same response "it's natures way" and " one of those things". We have no reason for the infertility - it's just unknown infertility. All our tests have always been good and there should be no reason for the lack of success but it just hasn't happened- and then when I have got pregnant via IVF it's ended badly both times. Very frustrating! I will find out tomorrow if my levels have dropped, and will be having a D&C and keyhole investigation for ectopic weds to hopefully stop whatever has been happening.
How did you go about the screening for miscarriage? Is it via a private route? My clinic offered me the intralipids which I had, but when I asked about aspirin didn't feel it was something I needed.
Thanks all

Hi whippet.

I had my tests done with a miscarriage expert as I had 3 natural pregnancies all ending in miscarriage. However when I then couldn't get preg I ended up in ivf land (DH has low sperm count and 3 BFP were just "lucky" although not really happy endings). The ivf place accepted the same bloods as my miscarriage expert had done. My ivf place advices them for 3 failed muscarriages or 3 failed ivf cycles. Some opt to do it after 2. They included NK cells, thrombophilla, looking for mutations, thyroid etc. I had had 70 percent done by my miscarriage expert and just had the others done from ivf clinic. They are called level 1 and 2 tests in my clinic and some are sent to chiacgo. They have turned up a number of issues for which im going to be a lot of drugs for!
If u have had an ectopic I suppose it sadly is just one of this things....

Sorry ur going through a d and c, I hope ur levels drop and u have better luck next time. Hope ur holding up ok xxx

Ps I'm Going to be on asprin, clexane, Dex and intralipds and metformin and hydroxychloroquine!

Whippet1 · 01/06/2015 17:26

Thank you for this, I'll certainly write it down and arm myself for my next doctor review! I have an underactive thyroid so a known condition but have been to,d this should alter anything - I've always wondered if it has/ would. Its so frustrating when you don't understand these things and the experts tell you not to worry- I think I'll question itbmorecthis time as with IVF it's a high price to pay if it's something can could be investigated and sorted.
Good luck with your next try - where is your clinic ? They sound great .

Hi whippet. I'm on my first cycle! And on day 2 of injections. Finding it ok but also overwhelming. Im with care....thyroid and fertility are closely linked. I don't have thyroid issues (the one thing I don't have!) but I have read from other women how imp it is to have ur levels well
Controlled Before and during TTC.
A lot Of my tests and treatment are controversial and don't have sound evidence so are not avaiable on the nhs. However, I felt like I was at a point where I had to look into the more controversial stuff. Lots of
