Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking for a little support.

I'm a 33 year old lady who has been trying to get pregnant for the last 18 months. I was referred to my local infertility clinic late 2014. All tests came back with great results..ie.. my husbands sperm test was great, had my tubes flushed... no problems or blockages. They diagnosed pcos and gave me 6 months clomid. I have ovulated on every single round for the last 3 months with pogesterone being over 60 all three times... I'm bd at all the correct times and using preseed.... its just not happening.

I saw the fertility specialists last week and she has said it's now classed as unexplained fertility gave me another 3 more rounds of 50 mg of clomid ( the most they will give is 9 cycles) told me nothing more can be done :(.
She told me if not pg in the next 3 months will have to pay for ivf. I have a son from a previous marriage who has a life limiting condition, he is early teens.

I'm devastated and looking for some advice from others who have gone on to get their longed for miracle after the 3rd round of clomid 50mg... and have ovulated on all of them...

No personal experience but I would say don't despair right now. The situation you are in with the clomid actually puts you in the situation most people would hope to be in when TTC - you know there's nothing obviously wrong and you are ovulating. Even in that happy situation it can still take couples up to a year to get pregnant and that's perfectly normal. SO what I'm saying is, no it hasn't worked yet but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. Sounds like you could have another 6 shots at the clomid in total? I would keep going for now and see what happens. there's no reason why it won't still work iyswim.

I conceived on my third cycle of 50mg but if I hadn't the next cycle would have been doubled. I was going out of my mind by cycle three so we DTD every day for weeks.

I conceived naturally after 4 cycles, was on the waiting list for ivf :) then had a second baby 2 years later with no help whatsoever.

Back story very similar to yours, PCOS and unexplained infertility

Don't despair, stay positive and keep trying :)

I had 4 rounds of Clomid 50mg. I ovulated each time and ovulate naturally anyway. I have PCO and unexplained infertility too. Clomid didn't get me pregnant but first cycle IVF - short protocol - did! Smile

Me and OH conceived on second cycle at 50mg although we didn't know we was pregnant until I was 9 weeks as I was so busy with work and completely forgot I had taken clomid and missed 2 cycles hahaha. I think for me the forgetting about it and focusing on work rather than ttcing helped as it wasn't on my mind stressing me out with B'ding at the correct time or temping or using opks we just basically let nature (and clomid) take its course. Try not to stress or worry too much Smile

I do not think you are unexplained at all given that you already have a PCOS diagnosis. I think this clinic have given up on you as a couple too quickly and do not know what to do after giving you clomid. Its also too big a leap to suggest IVF after a course of clomid treatment.

Make love as and when you both feel like it; forget all this "bd at the correct times" as it is a nonsense. Timed intercourse can make things a lot worse.

Your man in particular needs up to date test results particularly if his tests were done over 6 months ago. Such results should be discounted in that case. I am wondering if they have actually missed any male factor issues.

It may be time for you to seek a second opinion as well as having more tests for male factor problems carried out.

I got pregnant the month after I stopped taking Clomid so hang in there!
