Hello everyone, I am a 30 year old woman, childless, 22 stone - just a little background there!
Back in 2010 I started prolonged bleeding. It was very heavy, clotted blood which went on for a year. Eventually my GP referred me to hospital for tests and ultrasounds, which came up with nothing, apart from telling me I was extremely anaemic, so all the gynae consultant could offer was the mirena coil to stop the bleeding.
I had the coil in from 2011, and around a few weeks after insertion, bleeding stopped completely. I met a man and in November 2013, decided to have the mirena removed. It was making me very moody, tired and tearful, and dp and I decided to ttc.
About two or three weeks after I had the coil removed, the bleeding came back. As before, it was so heavy, I was changing a super night time pad every half hour. I went back to the doctors in utter desperation, and so they sent me back to the hospital for more ultrasounds. They discovered I had polycystic ovaries and an immature fibroid on my womb, but said there's nothing they can do as I still want children, apart from put the coil back in while I tried to lose weight. I didn't want the coil, so went on with the bleeding, with the dr prescribing norethisterone when I went away etc to stop the bleeding.
The last time I had norethisterone was 19 - 25 January while I was away, and as usual, a few days after I stopped it, I had blood and awful pains. These usually don't stop, but lo and behold, 7 days after I started bleeding, it just stopped on around 2nd February. I really can't believe it, and obviously I'm enjoying the freedom of not bleeding. I tried to eat healthily and exercised daily while away and from Christmas til then, lost about 7lbs, so could it be that that's stopped me from bleeding? Could I, dare I ask, be ovulating? Actually fertile? Please someone help me understand what's going on!
