Hi,

Got 2 embryos frozen. Can do a natural cycle as I'm pretty regular and ovulate fine and everything points towards having a good lining at the right time in the cycle. Obviously money is a draw to doing a natural cycle and also hoping body will appreciate less intervention.

But, ACU at Guys said only about 10% of their patients chose natural and that really threw me. The statistics were lumped together, so consultant wasn't able to advice either way. She said decision lay with me.

Also, she said that with natural is is better to wait for 2 cycles then try. I was planning to go next month meaning only one cycle would have passed since ivf fresh cycle. i.e. ivf oct, normal cycle nov, natural fet dec. Any thoughts on this? Bad move? I just wanted to get a frozen one in before Christmas as I remember the shitty feeling last Christmas and saying to myself I'd be preg by next xmas. Grasping at straws? Probably.

What does everyone think? x

Two

  • first one short protocol - 10 eggs became 1 blasto
  • second one long protocol - 8 eggs became 2 blastos. (1 in freezer)

You're right with the trip to England that should help time pass by a bit quicker.

Sort of happy with my clinic but it does kind of feel as if they only suggest things after each failed attempt - not sure why (esp after the NK results) they didn't suggest doing all this last round, rather than a half attempt and now suggesting it this time. Kind of makes me think they just want us to pay more money for another cycle rather than give us the best chance initially. (Maybe I'm paranoid). Certainly our first attempt was simply by the book, so may not be hugely different from you. And you got a great result for a first attempt really, with (how many? frosties. I think a lot of people have said attempt no. 1 is a test to see how you respond. I don't think if move in your shoes - not yet anyway. It sounds as if it's just down to stats/luck at this stage. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your words smidge. in my heart I don't really want to move because I'm familiar with the clinic etc and I've been there so many times, I know the drill. Hopefully that will ease those nerves next time round.

So, you've never had a FET. My acupuncturist said that many women do better on the FET cycle because there are less drugs / evasive. I think what you have experienced with your clinic and the solutions they come up with happens to us all. Bloody annoying when the financial and emotional burden is so great.

I have 2 in the freezer, that is why it's really hard to know whether to put them both back in. Twins from a financial point of view will be hard and I also my family are 3 hrs plus away. But I'm getting so desperate I'm willing to take the risk. It does mean that financially if it fails, we'd had to do a whole new fresh cycle, but the urge to put 2 back in before xmas is so overwhelming.

I'm almost dreading xmas this year, because when I felt down last xmas, i kept saying to myself I'd be pregnant this time next year. I'm sure you did the same re: your flights. The seasons pass and you remember the feelings you had last time winter was here. I'm praying this all comes good soon (for both of us) x

Hi there,

I am new to this site and also about to start an natural FET. I wondered how you all got on that were posting at the end of last year?
We are with Guys Hospital and I am due to go for a scan next Wednesday and then I think they said the transfer is more than likely to be about a week after.
Anyone got a great success stories on natural FET? Or any recommendations or hints or tips, would be amazing?!

Thank you all so much xx
