Does facial hair always mean PCOS?

Apologies if this is the wrong board, but I'm worrying myself (hopefully over nothing).
DH and I would like to start TTC #1 in the next year or so, so for now I'm on the pill. However, I have really bad facial hair and am worried that this means I have PCOS and we'll struggle to conceive.
I went to my GP about the facial hair, before I'd ever heard of PCOS, and they did a blood test and internal probe scan thing and they were negative. But they never worked out what causes the facial hair.
Could the fact that I'm on the pill have made the test results wrong?
I've been on the pill so long - since my teens - so I can't remember whether my non-pill periods are regular or not.
I do know that my mum and dad took over two years to conceive me, so if it's inherited I might have it?
I dunno!!

The pill can and does mask symptoms of any underlying hormonal imbalance. The cystic follicles associated with PCOS can disappear only to be replaced by other cystic follicles.

The causes of PCOS are not fully understood but genetic factors amongst others are implicated.

When you do decide to stop taking the pill note any other symptoms very carefully. For instance if the hirsuitism continued (as it could do) and your periods become non existent upon stopping the pill medical advice should be sought sooner rather than later.

BTW Verity's website may be informative to you:-

I am, sadly, hairy of face (and other areas!) and PCOS was ruled out. My testosterone levels were a tiny fraction outside of normal range, so I put it down to that.
