Antisperm Antibodies...help!

Can anyone share their experience or knowledge of antisperm antibodies, or even better a bfp success story? We are dealing with DH 20% antisperm antibodies and desperate to find out how significant this is and if there is any chance of natural conception?

Hi. My DH has 90% anti sperm antibodies. We were told that this wouldn't make it impossible to conceive naturally, just more difficult. However, given that we'd already been TTC for 2 years and we are both 36 , we decided that we couldn't wait around any longer and have recently had a private cycle of ICSI. Who knows what may have happened had we carried on TTC longer? I'm guessing your chances are far greater than ours given that 80% of your DH's sperm is antibody free. I have read success stories on other threads on this topic. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing Happyless. When did you do icsi? I'm not very familiar with all of the treatment as yet but we are on the waiting list for IVF but it is a year long. Did your DH try anything to reduce the antibodies? And if his SA was repeated did the antibodies remain the same %? Sorry so much questions but I'm finding it difficult to find others with a similar issue.

We are trying 1000mg vit c each day, zinc, wellmans and a handful of almonds and Brazil nuts. If it doesn't improve the antibodies I'm thinking it will at the very least improve the 80% without the antibodies!

Good luck with your treatment I really hope and pray it works for you both x

Mam31. Feel free to ask as many questions as you have! We just finished our ICSI cycle last week and are currently in the 2ww. My DH took the Zita West Vitamen supplements for a while. Whilst they improved most factors of his sperm (which were pretty good anyway), unfortunately there was no change in the anti bodies situation.
I would say you need to go for ICSI rather than IVF (or maybe half and half in your case) as IVF won't overcome the issue of the sperm not being able to penetrate the egg which is caused by the antibodies.
Hope this helps.

Thankyou Happy! We should be getting an appointment before Christmas to discuss treatment but I think you are right that it will be IVF with icsi but this will all be clarified at our next appointment.

Wow your at such an exciting stage, I'm sure you are nervous as well! How did you find the icsi?? Any details you can share about this would be much appreciated including any awful bits! I like to know what i have ahead of me and an honest view of it all.

Good luck, I really really hope this works for you. Do you get 1 cycle on NHS only?
