Just starting injections.. Advice on Drinking Milk/ Whey Protein

Hi to all..

So my wife is just starting her injections today (it's our first time). Our clinic have advised that she drinks a litre of milk each day.

She doesn't get on too well with milk and I am researching some alternatives for her.. From what I can tell she is drinking the milk for the protein.

Has anyone used Solgar Whey Protein Powder instead?

Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

Hello there.

Wondering if I should actually bother replying as I can't actually be too much help I am afraid. It's been a while since you posted and I thought you might have actually spoken to the clinic again and been able to provide me with some answers on this topic now? !

Another woman on here wrote that her clinic advised to drink 1 litre of milk a day too. She thought it was something more particular to milk than just the protein content. I don't drink much milk either and thought you might by now have spoken again to the clinic and be able to clarify this with me why specifically 1 daily litre of milk would be helpful?

I can't seem to find any actual research articles online why this would help.

I had done a few IVF cycles - some with and without milk, and don't notice any difference, but I certainly didn't drink a litre a day.

Thanks, I did do some research on the subject and have found out that the milk protein is to supplement eating a 'high protein diet'

Your response is appreciated though

I'm lactose intolerant, so didn't drink milk. My clinic didn't mention it but i have heard that other clinics advise it. I have an ivf baby. I'm not convinced that it makes much, if any, difference.

Thanks euro. The fact that you got your baby without drinking milk gives me some reassurance that it is not essential. I will make sure I do high protein from other sources instead next IVF cycle. Hope your pregnancy is going well!

Surprisingly, my friend who was going to acupuncturist, advised to stay away from dairy. So ultimately I believe you should stick to what your clinic has advised.
I'm not a fan of dairy products anyway. But protein intake is important for egg production & quality. Your wife can have a bit of protein at every meal, easier if she is not a vegetarian. You can also add protein powder to a small portion of bio-yoghurt. It is good for your gut as well as a double boost of protein along with very important calcium. Alternatively, you can buy pure protein flavoured powder and mixed it with the milk.
