London IVF clinic recommendations

Hi All – I am a 32 year old embarking on 2nd round IVF after not falling pregnant last time. Our issue is my AMH levels (1.1 which is typical of a 45 yr old!) – all else as should be. Have been told by NHS that they would not recommend doing more than 1 cycle in my case so this round might be the last shot at having children that are genetically mine. So I want to make it count i.e. go to the best possible clinic/practitioner. Wanted to get your opinion on fertility clinics in London (UK) (I have the following 3 in mind but open to other recommendations as well)

Mohammad Taranissi @ Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Centre (www.argc.co.uk/): Highest results in the UK every year since 1995 but he is of course controversial. Also nothing specific on site re low ovarian reserves

Lister Clinic (www.ivf.org.uk/): Average results on HEFA but they are the only place (of the 3) that has a whole section on low ovarian reserves so feels like they focus on it

Centre for Reproductive & Genetic Health (www.crgh.co.uk/): Above average results for UK but not as high as Taranissi and doesn’t have anything specific on my condition

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear this and didn't want to let your post go unanswered. I can only back up the ARGC's excellent results with my own positive experience (they successfully got me pregnant with my baby boy after several cycles and being told it wasn't possible by another clinic). However ovarian reserve wasn't my particular issue so I don't know about that, hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon. Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Also I found this article comparing clinics really useful. All the best xx

Thanks Dannygirl - that article is super helpful!

I might book an initial consultation with a couple of the the places to get a feel.

Another vote for ARGC. We had two failed NHS cycles at our local clinic and went to ARGC for our final throw of the dice. I am currently holding our 8 month old DS ....

The approach of ARGC is - as I'm sure you are aware - very different to any other clinic. It's intense and at times seems chaotic and vague. But there is certainly method in their madness and their results speak for themselves. You really just have to put your faith in them and do as they say (an approach which some people would not like).

Although be warned that cycling with them can come with a hefty price ticket. On paper their fees are no more than anyone else - but the intensity of their monitoring means that costs soon build up. Once you start going down the 'throw everything at it road' it is very hard to step off it. I had a number of issues (mainly immune) which were monitored until around week 30. This included three rounds of IVIG after our BFP which were £££. Our total fees for the one round were five figures and the first figure wasn't a 1 ......

Good luck to you OP. It's a tough journey.

xx

I'll add my praise for ARGC and Mr T. After 4 failed cycles elsewhere we moved to ARGC and have our 13 month old twins asleep upstairs. I agree with all the points about the clinic above that the others have raised. I have PCOS so can't comment on how they'd deal with low AMH, but they dealt with the other end of the spectrum brilliantly.

One thing about low AMH (and I'm really sorry if you're already aware of this) I was chatting to a friend this week about our IVF experiences and she has a very low AMH, she had a failed cycle but the second time she'd researched and asked for a growth hormone (I can't remember the name of it) she took this and produced far more eggs second go of which the two transferred implanted, she also took Vit D supplements. She was at UCL.

Try dr Venkat here hsfc.org.uk/

She's amazing as are her team. Just give them a ring and see if you like the feel of them.

We have a beautiful DD after treatment here Smile

I've had treatment at CRM and been very happy with the care. Both cycles have been successful. The first we sadly had to terminate at 20 weeks for medical reasons (not the clinics fault obvs) and second is in my tummy now at 13 weeks. Good luck x

Thanks all. I am just back from a little break and picking-up all the suggestions. At the moment considering going to Dr. Geeta Nargund at Create who uses Natural IVF (i.e. no or v low meds). She was recommended by a senior doctor who is a leading expert/researcher in low ovarian reserve related issues.

If you like Create style I would recommend Dr George Nduwke at Zita West in London.

I used Lister and am currently 33 weeks pregnant from my first ivf with them. I picked them because they accept women with high fsh levels which I had. From what I read when I was choosing a clinic is ARGC are a lot stricter on fsh levels which is why I didn't go for them. Lister were great and everyone was really lovely.
