Low AMH and low oestrogen - does it mean donor IVF only option?

Looking like IVF is our only hope of conceiving due to poor response to gonal-F during IUI cycles. I have a low AMH (4.6) and low oestrogen too. Does this mean I would need donor eggs as I am not sure I want to go down that route.

There is medicine you can take to increase your oestrogen levels, or there is natural ways. Really it depends however, how low is low?

With regard to low AMH, I was also informed i have a pretty low level in this as well, while I do not recall the level off the top of my head, I remember it being quite low. We were told we could proceed to IVF/ICSI with my own eggs.

i have just had my 1st cycle using donor eggs and donor sperm, i had 1st grade eggs implanted, unfortunately they didn't take, so now saving up for the next cycle and putting a funding request in via gp to the CCG, my odds were alot higher using donor eggs, i have a 50:50 chance of a pregnancy, where as using my own eggs is only 25% chance, so yes donor eggs are a great option, speak to your consultant and ask what your odds are!!!

Regarding AMH levels, check out DHEA. We used it when preparing for a second cycle of ICSI (we were just on our clinic's minimum AMH threshold for treatment), and our levels increased for us when using it.

Worth doing some Googling/asking your consultant to see if it could help.

I conceived naturally 3 x after a diagnosis of low amh of 0.1 told donor eggs but tried naturally as I want ready to try donor eggs. I had 2 mc but one stuck which is now ds Grin
Try dhea and look into other things which improve egg quality.
I think if you go to donor eggs just now should depend on your age, afc and how much trying you've got left in you.

Means to read wasn't ready for don't eggs - damn phone

I don't want to go down the donor egg route. I will look into DHEA. How long did you take it for dogstrummer?

Well, I didn't take it as such, my wife did. She took 50mg per day for 2 months. We had a natural BFP at the end of the 2nd month of taking it, just before our ICSI cycle was due to start. As soon as we got the BFP, we stopped the DHEA.

DHEA is used a lot more in the States, but not so much here in the UK. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence that it works, BUT, not so much independent scientific research. You'll notice the study I linked was run by the guy with 2 patents in DHEA-related treatments. So, that knocks its credibility a bit. Smile

AMH isn't a very accurate measure of fertility - mine has gone up and down over the years (always low for my age though), and from three rounds of IVF we were able to get 8, 12 and 8 eggs collected.

It's definitely still worth going for IVF if you can, you never know.

Also, there are many different combinations of hormones and protocols that you can try. My first round was just gonal-f, second round higher dose of gonal-f and added menopur, which greatly improved our embryo quality.
