Hi everybody

I am begining to do my research about fertility clinics and I have just approched to these two clinics. Have any of you have experienced any of them? Or if there are other clinics that you can recommend me, please let me know. Many many thanks!! [simile]

Hi there, I'm not sure how much use it might be to you, but we are in the same boat in terms of meeting at different clinics. It's interesting but also so frustrating as there doesn't seem to one place that has every thing you want! We've had a meeting with Geeta Nargund at Create who was great, very sweet and positive, if a little bit rushing us during the meeting. The main thing that is drawing me to them is her whole philosophy of lower dosage meds without any down reg etc, or even Natural Cycle, with no drugs at all. What I would say though is that their admin side of things seems to be all over the place ( I think lots of people have commented on this) but having said that, everyone we've dealt with has been very nice.
The other place we've been to is Zita West, which I know causes lots of differing opinions on here (!) but which we actually found to be really good, and the doctor we met there who would potentially be treating us, Dr Simone Rafena, was absolutely brilliant and gave us almost 2 hours of his time at our meeting with him (most of them rush you out of the door in half an hour!). The one thing that puts me off going there, is they seem to prefer a much more aggressive use of drugs, using highest levels of everything, as his attitude I think is to pretty much throw everything at it, in the hope it works.
It's so hard finding the right one, but I guess in the end you have to just make your choice and go with it. All the very best to you on your journey
xxxx

Thank you so much for your answer MrsGAT,
I am in the same situation like you in terms of Create, it seems the only one that has alternatives that don't involve high doses of drugs. To be honest the drugs are our main concern. However we had a first appointment in Create - Wimbledon but unfortunately we didn't have good luck in terms of customer service, I wonder how could you get the meeting with Dr. Nargund? I tried to contact her but I couldn't. Other situation that put us off from Create was that within the IVF process we will be checked by different doctors, they don't assign your case to a specific doctor. We are going to an open day with them on the 7th of June and lets see if our perception change. My husband was doing some research and he found 5 places and we are going to attend their open days as well, CRGH (4th June), Guys hospital (6th June), Lister (19th June). I will include also Zita West!! but again the dose of drugs is something that will also maybe put us off!! Good luck with your research and lets see how we are doing in the mean time! xxxxxx

Hello.. I've just come across this thread whilst researching Create... I've just had a failed IVF cycle attempt and am now doing more thorough research into techniques and clinics as I went with the first, closest to me not understanding the variations at the time... I had an aggressive, short protocol of drugs with highest doses etc and only produced 4 eggs. I am in early menopause apparently, have recently had a fibroid removed and also had to have a cyst drained during egg retrieval this time so feeling maybe I was not at my best health wise. I'm very drawn to the few/no drugs options and the quality over quantity ethos at Create and wondered if you'd had any further experiences with them? Any more advice most welcome! TIA x

Hi serend I had mild ivf at create, I had positive result with them in my first attempt in terms of getting pregnant. I can't call my chickens yet however I am in my week 34. Fingers crossed everything will end up with good result.
I feel confident with them, I had just 4 eggs collected and I could just have one egg transfer. I advise you to visit them and pay the initial consultation to chat with Dr. Nargund. The only thing that I can say is that at the end the treatment is really expensive due to the injections that you have to pay for even though mild ivf requires low doses.
Good luck and keep posting regarding your progress Smile

Hi gcerron
We are thinking of starting mild ivf with Create but I have yet to get to grips with "total" cost. I have low ovarian reserves and a incarnate uterus so they will only transfer one embryo. We are looking at the 3 round package. I just wondered how much you ended up paying?
Best of luck with your pregnancy! :)

tut *unicornate uterus! Auto correct!!

Create Is also on our list so I'm interested in this thread. We had a negative experience with a SA there though involving lots of chasing on our part so were slightly put off

I've had 2 fresh cycles and 4 FETs with Create.

Pros: the clinical staff are wonderful and everything is evidenced based. They take as much time as it takes to answer questions
You always get seen by a consultant, where as a lot of other clinics will use a nurse to scan you.
No clinic can assign the same doctor to see you from start to finish, because it is a 2 week process (min) and you are seen every other day, and then every day. They can't not give doctors a day off for weeks at a time! But we only saw 2 or 3 different doctors max, and they had always read all of our notes before the start of the appointment.

They have a brilliant safety record and don't take any risks with OHSS - a friend and I had our first rounds at the same time and she was at another clinic. We both had the same amount of eggs collected. I was told to wait 2 months for a frozen transfer (at no extra cost to me), she had a fresh transfer. She ended up in A&E with OHSS...
Prof Nargund oversees the treatment, and the consultants will call her in for her opinion, or if you request her opinion
The St Paul's centre is brand new (the Wimbledon one is a bit older, but fine)

The drug cost is much lower than places that put you on long protocol. I think we ended up paying about £700 for all the drugs and blood tests on top of the 'basic' package cost but that obviously depends what dose they give you

Cons: The admin staff aren't great. They are frequently running late but you don't get told in advance, and a couple of the receptionists are bitches - I had one situation where we needed to book a follow up appointment and pay for some treatment. DH was paying and went to the loo. They refused to even tell me which appointments were available until he came back and handed over the credit card! I think this is common with every clinic though... When someone founds a clinic with nice admin, they'll clean up...

Hi all, I went for a consultation/scan at Create in St Albans, the first appt they gave me got cancelled by email the night before which was annoying as I'd booked a day off work and don't get paid for it :( They were rather unsympathetic and just said as it s a new clinic they got confused with days the consultant worked :/ booked another appt for the following week and that ran 50 mins late again with little apology or explanation... The doctor I saw couldn't give me prices, was very vague and did not instil confidence in me at all :( so not sure what to do, whether to request another appt at St Pauls or not... The scan was positive though, i had 6 follicles altogether which he said was good considering AMH 1.1... I've read a few posts people have said their admin is terrible... I went to The Bridge Clinic at London Bridge today for a seminar on natural and mild IVF.. The staff were extremely pleasant and informative, kind and seemed very organised, They had a dutch specialist speaker there too who was very good and answered lots of questions I had. They are attached to a clinic in Harley Street (a group of 6 altogether) and seemed very professional and knowledgeable... think I will book a personal consultation there and see how that goes.
