Hi I have been on metformin 500mg twice a day for 10 years, when I got diagnosed then with PCOS I had no periods, in the last 5 years I started having regular periods and in the last 3 years we have been trying for a baby, I have had all the tests under the sun and the one that has come out all ok is that I am ovulating naturally every month and they think this is purely down to the metformin (so ovulating isn't our problem they have said we have unexplained infertility). I can't speak highly enough of metformin, it helped me loose weight, my hair growth slowed down and to top it all off I got periods and ovulate regularly- I know mine isn't a success story about conceiving but I thought it might reassure you about the drug. I am currently on two cycles of clomid 50mg a day for 5 days as they said I have nothing to loose it should make me produce more eggs which of course increases your chances, if that doesn't work IVF for us :( I wish you luck with your metformin x

I first went on metformin not really knowing what it did and fell pregnant (very unexpectedly as I was used a bit rubbish with contraception as I thought I didn't have much chance of falling pregnant!) within a few months.

Went back on it for dc2 and had to wait a little bit longer but it still worked. Not on it now as after I had him my cycle seemed to jump start itself and is now like clockwork.

Hope you find it works for you!

I remember that I had that when I started the metformin but after a short while that dissapears - if it doesn't I have found over the years to stop feeling nauseous and to stop the stomach upsets taking the metformin after lunch or dinner and with a glass of milk really helps x
After 10 years I am a b*dy expert on metformin! :)
