Hi,

I'm 35 yo and I've just had my fsh levels results come back as 12. I'm in absolute hysterics as I know that isn't good and my next appointment with the fc isn't until 01 Sep. I really could do with some advice from anyone who has been through similar. Please help. Thanks.

And another quick disclaimer....

DHEA is illegal in the United Kingdom under the Misuse of Drugs Act (class "c", schedule IV). This means it is illegal to use without a prescription.

So, if you want to tick all the boxes, it might be worth getting a specialist to write you a private prescription for it. Some are willing to do this, but not all, as DHEA is less well-known over here in the UK.

Hi, I just registered because I want to share my success story with you. I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve FSH 27 AMH

NothingsLeft · 11/08/2013 22:52

I had hight FSH and very short luteal phase before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. It's a big cause of infertility. Resolved once I went gluten free.

My first FSH result was 14.4. I am sitting here hoping that my 15mo stays asleep all night as I'm 35 weeks pregnant with number two and could do with a decent night's sleep!
Number one was the result of a lot of help. Number two was the result of my body having figuring out how to do this. By the way, my AMH is 2.4 so no barrel of laughs there either.

Do get an AMH test - they're not particularly expensive, around £100 I think. Then talk to doctors about short protocols for Ivf. The clinical evidence says they don't make much difference in terms of response but anecdotal evidence shows that they do. In my case it did help. Also make sure you get your immunes checked. That's pricier but a bunch of them can be done by your GP.

There is evidence that Dhea does help but if you do go down the ivf route, I think something like a short protocol may be more effective.

PM me if you would like further details of the clinic I used and the name of my consultant. She was recommended to me as someone who was good as dealing with people with low egg reserve.

Thanks all for your comments and for coming on and posting your success stories - it gives me some hope!

I've just had an amh test done so waiting for the results of that to come back. My progesterone test shows I ovulate but my levels are still a bit low (27).

Awaiting next fc appt on 9th sep. Do anyone know what the next steps will be? Do they even bother with clomid or IUI for high fsh?

I think that probably depends on your results and circumstances. We went straight for IVF as the view was taken that it made more chance to work aggressively with the eggs that I have left than to leave too much to chance . The success rates for IUI are much lower. Don't know about Clomid but it was never suggested as a treatment for me.

Just before I was diagnosed with POF my FSH was measured at 18 and LH of 11

I went on to have 2 dc with the assistance of clomid

Keep looking and keep hoping x

I am not the owner of that site, just found information about the infertility among women. www.sureviagra.com/4-most-common-symptoms-associated-with-female-infertility.html these reasons are mostly increased the risk of fertility problems.

Echoing Shellster - FSH bounces up and down

In July last year my FSH was 17.6
The following month it was 9.5

This month it was 4.6

I absolutely crapped my pants when I got the news about my FSH

FSH is a measure of quantity not quality in any case. Quality is determined by age. And it's quality that counts!

Hello! Have your clinic booked you in to have an ultrasound scan to count your follicles? At my clinic they wanted to look at that in conjunction with the FSH. My FSH was 8 which they said was borderline, so they booked me in for the scan which showed a low follicle count. So at that point they recommended i had the AMH blood test. They were able to take my blood sample there and then and send it off for me - it was £60 I think, earlier this year. (this was an NHS clinic). So I would mention a follicle count at your next clinic appointment - although I am sure they will suggest this. Then they can build a better picture. I've read on here of ladies with FSHs of 12 that had higher (better) AMH results than I did with my FSH of 8 so, like others have said, the FSH is one that changes each month whereas the AMH is a better indication of how well you will respond during IVF.

FSH can fluctuate it’s normal. If you were over 40 the clinic may have said no, but due to your age and the progesterone levels you may be okay. Suggest you get them to monitor it regularly.

I have PCOS so it’s the opposite problem (LH high FSH low) but I was told to take 200mg of co-enzyme q10 as it helps improve egg quality. You can get them from Holland and Barrats. Suggest you start now as they don’t do any harm and it can take 3 months to see the results.
