Hi, am totally confused. Went to Doctor Jan 2011, had blood tests all fine. DH gave sperm sample - low volume and not good quality. June 2011 went to Fertility Clinic at Hospital had blood tests, internal scan, hystero? dye in uterus quite painful and all fine. DH low volume and quality. Went to IVF clinic internal scan revealed 6 follicles, all looked fine. Saw Nurse Fertility Manager and all change - husband low volume but good quality and I have AMH of 1 which is classified as undetectable and means that I am likely to be going into early menopause. I do not understand how all other tests can be fine and this not. Have spoken to the clinic who have said wait until next appt. Have done loads of research reading all sorts of scientific studies and am none the wiser. Can anyone explain?

AMH is an indication of your egg reserve levels and is used to basically help the clinic decide what to do next. If you have low AMH they will normally suggest going straight to ivf and not starting with iui or clomid or similar.

AMH is still quite a new test and in my 3 years on this journey was the test that sent me over the edge I have to say. It does not mean you will be going into early menopause nor does it mean you are menopausal, especially if all your other tests are fine.

Mine is about that and we got 5 eggs on our 1st go, 4 fertilised and we ended up with 2 to transfer after pgs testing. I didn't get pregnant but that wasn't down to egg quality. Yes it would have been better to have more but several friends have started with 15 or 20 and still only ended up with 1 to transfer. So it's not great news but it doesn't mean the end is nigh

This is quite a good explanation thebarrenyears.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/amh/

Thank you! Really helpful. Have gone straight to IVF so will see what happens.
