When to do FET?

We have two frozen embryos to use at some point. DH is keen to get going with them asap. I was quite ill at the end of last year: I feel back to normal now, but am worried that my body won't yet be in a good state to give the embryos the best possible chance...

Will this actually make a difference (assuming my lining's ok etc)? Any residue from my illness obviously won't affect the eggs (they're from before then), but could it affect implantation likelihood?

It's very hard to give advice without knowing what the illness was. Have you spoken to your doctor about this, and got their advice?

The doctors say that I'm free to use the embryos at any point - they don't seem worried. They don't want me to use my own eggs yet since I had chemotherapy.

If it makes any difference I'm 35 but don't have any children yet.

When I got the one year all clear from my cancer, they told me they were happy for us to start trying for a baby. I think it does take a while for the chemotherapy to get out of your system, but this is generally only 3-6 months.

If you feel ready to get started, and your doctors aren't concerned, then I don't see a problem with you starting soon. However, IF it doesn't work on the first go, are you going to blame yourself and think you should have waited longer, or will you understand it is just one of the inherent risks, and the timing probably won't have made any difference?

You want to avoid any thoughts and feelings which could cause stress for you in what may already be a very stressful time. You need to be mentally prepared, but there should be no problems with your body!

However, I have a big caveat in that I don't actually know. I didn't go ahead with freezing embryos before my treatment, as the risk to my fertility was low with the treatment I was on, and I didn't want to delay my chemo for the IVF cycle. I can only tell you what I feel is right.

Good luck to you,

That's great advice: thank you. My fertility also hasn't been affected, and I'm keener to try naturally than use the frozen embryos (we will use them at some point but the thought of more procedures/doctors etc isn't very attractive as I'm sure you'll understand), but we don't want to wait until the end of the year to even begin trying so I'm probably not going to have much of a choice.
